The LP on my Panasonic NV FJ-630 VCR doesnt show a

Actually my VCR is a model NV-FJ630 VHS VCR. The LP function has stopped working, while the SP plays fine. Obviously I need a new set of heads as the LP is dead. Where can I order some from? Do I need a specific set or is there a Panasonic set of heads that is used in several models? Any other thoughts/suggestions?? Do you know someone who wants to sell this model and has some old stock??

I know of four places that deal in Panasonic parts and they are all on-line!
Number one is Grandata, 2 is Willow Vale, 3 is CPC.
The fourth one I have just checked on and they have the upper cylinder unit in stock at £47.99 plus P&P!
And they are Curry's Partmaster.
You might want to try the others just in case they do it cheaper, but I find that Panasonic heads tend to be all around that sort of price.

I would say that it's because you haven't used the original test tape. Where the recordings that play up done on the model before the problems started? If so then that would prove that the tape is just slightly off. I can't see it being a fake head, nobody would make any money doing fake VHS heads these days!

Does panasonic NV-SD225 series have sp/lp

Since SP is the speed all video's have then yes! Most video's have LP or Long Play. If in doubt you can get the user manual free from the Pansonic website.

I require a replacement remote control for a Panasonic NV-FJ620 VCR, recently bought from a car-boot, the VCR works fine but having a remote would be great. Please advise, thank you. Alex.

Try Curry's partmaster. They have 3 ranging in price from £14.99 to 18.99.
You could also get a universal one, these are cheaper, but often don't operate all functions. Remotes are sometimes a lot more expensive than the 3 on Curry's site, think yourself lucky that you didn't pick up one at the boot where the remote alone costs upwards of £60!

OK connect the AV Out Yellow, Red, White, OR SVHS, OR SCART, from the VCR, connect these leads color to color to the DVD's AV whatever, IN.. Press Play on VCR, and "Record" on CVD that should do it.

Change VCR settings from SP to LP or EP

Hi;
I have a Panasonic VCR with a different, but I know how to 'fix' your problem on my m/c. The remote for my m/c has a "REC MODE" button; operating that button changes from SP to EP etc. Check it with the "Program" button on your TV screen.

Dubbing from VCR to DVD

Dont use xp mode. Here are the definitions:
SP is short for Standard Play. Standard play allows you to record information onto the tape the way it was intended, with no quality loss. By default, VCRs and camcorders will record your footage as standard play. On a standard VHS tape, recording footage in SP mode will yield 2 hours of video.
LP is short for Long Play. Long play allows you to record much more information at the expense of quality. It accomplishes this by reducing the speed the tape is run through the VCR. As the tape speed decreases, the quality will also decrease. You’ll notice this effect when comparing a tape recorded at LP versus one recorded at SP, especially after years of storage. The LP tape will appear more blurred, have more tracking and color issues than tapes recorded at SP. A VHS tape recorded at LP can hold roughly 4 hours of video.
EP/SLP is short for extended play. Extended play is similar to LP, but actually provides you even more recording time. EP was primarily used to document long, continuous events without the need to change video tapes every 2 hours. Due to the fact that the video is not of optimal quality, many times this setting was not used in order to preserve the quality of your footage. Tapes recorded at EP usually are the most problematic after years of storage, displaying a wide variety of tape damage symptoms including color loss, audio loss, frame skipping, and tracking issues.

Nv fj630 can't power up

Had the same problem with my one. After a lot of time spent testing etc and finding no low volts of any value present and looking on the web, I found that Panasonic tend to use a similar design of power supply for a lot of models and there appears to be, after a number of years in use, a weak link in the design/use with the voltage regulator. For this model, the regulator generic part number is STRG 6352 and the Panasonic part no is C5HACZZ00002. In the UK it is available from:-
http:/www.chsinteractive.co.uk/electrical-components/misc/nvfj620b-c5haczz00002-ic-pana.htm
If you need a service manual for this model, which is helpful for checking things/disasembly/assembly, you can obtain a free one from:-
http://www.reptips.dk/Reptips/NV-FJ620.pdf
As a note the panasonic replacement from chs came with the pins bent correctly, so it fitted directly after I had cut the old one out.

Best of luck!
