Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I have serviced these "Sign Robots" many many times over the years although I cut my teeth on Gerber' Cutters. Anyway, they are all very much the same, and are dependent on Drivers, and Ports. Most often they worked under Windows XP SP2. Now usually the "Language' it talks to the "Plotter/Cutter.is in HPGL. or Gerber Files. It is most likely doing that, cutting off, due to the serial port, and the way in which, Win 7 handles the port. you said you tried XP, and it didn't work? that is very odd, as this is the very, the only program that I would expect it to work with? However. another reason that it may cut off, is MEMORY, you need lots and lots of memory, so you could try increasing the amount of RAM, also the "Spooling" area maybe needed to be increased, and using that ArtCut software, too, maybe it would pay to run as Administrator, and also set compatibility mode for that too. Also ensure that the Plotting software is the ONLY thing running, including background software. Also, you may wish to try Compatibility Mode for XP SP 2. when running and installing the software as well as setting compatibility. mode too Also install everything as Administrator too. Check your serial plug wiring especially the earth connections. I mean basically, it is just a plotter, any program, that "Talks" in the "Language' of the "Plotter/Cutter, will work, you just have to make sure, that the serial ports settings, baud rate, stop & start bits, and number of bits too, are all set correctly. Always use the proper cable too. If you can, you should try to contact the manufacturers, and see if they can supply you with up to date drivers, and software for your unit. Sometimes, a new software and new drivers make all the difference.
Ok, check out these links above, the first one, is alternative software and upgrades software, above that, are some more help forum sites, then sign tools, than a manual for your plotter.
