Question about Dometic RM2852 Refrigerator

1 Answer

Dometic refrigerator RM 2652 is not working

Just bought a 2005 Alpenlite travel trailer and everything was set up yesterday. It looked like the refrigerator was starting to get cold.
But when I returned tonight it was not cold and there was no lights on when I pushed the on off button or the check gas button. I have been connected to power here at the RV place

Could the refrigerator turn it self off some how? Can it still be working if the lights are not on?

So what I did was turn off and on ther breaker for the refrigerator.
This is my first night in the trailer and I have lots of perishables that need to bee cold.

The fridge needs a 12 volt DC source to operate properly, which should be connected at the back of the fridge, outside behind cover. Check all fuses in your fuse panel as well. The upper controls are powered by 12 volt DC system, and that's what tells the fridge what to do.. (battery or converter)

PS. If you've checked all other fuses in trailer, and have found that you do have 12 VDC going to the bottom of the fridge, you may have to remove the cover on the circuit board at back as well, and check that there isn't a blown glass fuse in there as well. Careful, you may have 110VAC (Hydro) fuse as well as 12VDC fuse in there. The fridge plug-in should be right in that area as well, so unplug it temporarily while checking fuses in circuit board.

Question: I have a trailer camper it has a Dometic Rm 2652 Ameri. refrig.

If I remember right on those, the system works off 12 volt--120 volt-- or propane (LP gas). have you tried one of the other power source to run it off of?? If you get the same type cooling results the problem is probably a small leak in the freon system. Those use special internal gas. When I worked for GE the only way to fix them was to replace the complete cooling system which came pre-charged with the special internal gas. Quite expensive after the warranty. Now if you switch power source and one of the other sources make it work the problem will be with the type power you were using when it failed to cool properly. Many people that had system problems with those camper type refrigerators removed them and installed a small regular dorm style refrigerator that could only be run off a 120 volt power system. You would need a 12 volt to 120 converter to run it while on the road if thats what you want to do.

Dometic R/M 2652 stopped working...burning smell and smoke

First of all any signs of burning on a circuit board means that a component has burnout in which case replacement will be required. Secondly depending on the colour of the stain , if its a dark colour the systems heaters are cooked in which case the cork insulation has melted the tare off and thats what you see on the floor. if its clear and oil based , the container has rusted and formed a leak ,in any of these scenarios its time to get a new one
