Hi, a common problem with those combinations is the VCR section, if you are handy with some basic tools you can try a couple of quick procedures, first always make sure you remove the power to the TV, then take the cover off, then look for the carriage belt its usually located to the left of the VCR mechanism looking at it from the back of the TV. With your fingers rotate the cassette mechanism pulley to one side usually counter clockwise untill the tape ejects, this may take awhile because you are doing this manually, but if after a reasonable time the cassette does not eject, try clockwise, once the tape is ejected and out of the cavity, try turning the TV on.

It might be that the belt needs replacing(most of the time this will correct the problem).

This is a classic switchmode power supply, shutting down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both. This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, This set should be removed from the Power, and in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an Akai, Approved Service Center, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their local, "Head Office" Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement. The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. In any event, this is most likely, a fairly inexpensive repair, but as related ask for a "Quote" before proceeding with any repair.

I also have a 19" Symphonic tv vcr combo which

The problem is with the vcr section, it is stuck in eject mode thinking there is a tape. This a mechanical problem that might be repairable. The tv and vcr share some of the same circuits, you can try resetting the tray in the out position as if it fully ejected the tape. Now if this does not work it means you have a gear timing problem or bad sensor.

VCR isn't work, can you help?

Nancy, From the sounds of it either the supply or takeup reel is not working and may be damaged. In fact that may be the reason you couldn't get the tape out... If the takeup reel doesn't spin there is a small sensor below it that recognizes that there is a malfunction and shuts the system down. That's usually far cheaper than unloading a whole tape inside or do some serious damage. This unit is similar in design and electronics as the Funai F3813C and Sylvania 3813LC, W3813LC, Symphonic WS3813C and a Magnavox CCz132. That said, I have worked on a few of the comparable models for something quite similar and it has never been a real expensive repair. i'd guess this one would be under $80 dollars. Just find a reputable shop to take it to... If you not sure where to find one goto: http://www.nesda.com/locator/state_search.php and type in your info. That's the National Electronic Service Dealer's Assn. Kinda like going to the AMA to find a doctor... Good Luck Bill
