Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Computer my monitor is saying there is no video input and i have my computer hooked up to a workplace network and a laptop which i can remove from it's docking station to use elsewhere after having retrieved a network file that I might need. I just put my laptop back on its docking station and now there is apparently no video input and nothing works and i can't turn on the computer or the lap top separately and i can't turn anything on when the lap top is on the docking station and the two computers are therefore connected. What should I do?

Please, give some more information with less words about what is exactly your problem. You're using huge sentences and barely any punctuation.

How are the two computers connected?
I don't see why both computers can't be turned on at the same time
To which computer is the monitor connected?

Monitor says no signal and will not run a dvd

It could be a couple of things. If this monitor is hooked up to a computer, it could be a bad video card. A video card is easily fixed on a desktop, if you're using a laptop you're probably out of luck.

If it's hooked up to a DVD player, check that the cord to the monitor is hooked up properly (make sure the connection goes from the "Video Out" on the player to the "Video In" on the monitor and that all connections are tight, not barely hanging on). If that doesn't work, try a new cable.
This is probably insulting, but also make sure that the monitor is set to the right channel if it's multichannel. For example, if your DVD player is hooked up to HDMI 2, make sure the monitor is set to use HDMI 2 for signal.

If none of these work, it's time to find a tech-happy friend that can inspect everything visually. Hope that helps!

I just purchased a acer h203h and when I hooked it to my computer it says no signa and light turns red.

Please check the video input selected, press Menu botton, the monitor will show you among other information the input selected, if indicates VGA, you must have connected the corresponding cable between your PC and monitor, if it indicates DVI and your computer doesn't have DVI port press the Input botton to select VGA.

My monitor says input not supported

Hi there,

Monitor says 'input not supported', means the computer is sending an incompatible display mode to your monitor. Please check the user’s manual for supported display mode or input and configure your computer to those settings. The recommended setting for LCD panel is 1024x768 resolution and you may need to change the refresh rate of the monitor to 60Hz.
In Safe Mode, fire uop regedit and ry going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\Display and delete that whole key (yes, this bascially will remove your video drivers) then reboot, when you reboot windows should start up in standard VGA mode and prompt you for the video card drivers.

As soon as i turn on my computer my monitor says no input signal and then goes to sleep i have an hp

either your video card has stopped working or your cable to your monitor or the monitor is bad. Try to hook another monitor up to it see if it turns off if it doesn't then the video card needs to be replaced. If it does its the monitor.

Desktop has no signal

That means that the input from the monitor has no read able signal
Either the monitor is bad or the onboard or video card
Take the monitor and hook it up to a different PC to see if it works or hook a different monitor into that PC, that will ID which problem you have

Bought Samsung 2233BW Monitor, hooked the two plugs, power and DV1 cord started computer and switched on monitor, NOTHING HAPPENED. Silly thing just unhooked Samsung and hooked back up the AOC monitor no...

You might need to go into the monitor's setup menu and select the digital input. (That's DVI, by the way, for Digital Video Input, and not DV1.) Some monitors automatically detect the input but not all of them. Obviously, this doesn't apply if the Samsung has only a DVI input. It might also be necessary to tell the video card to turn on the DVI output. You can do this with your old AOC connected and use the video setting utility supplied with the video card.

Monitor malfunction, says VGA Input: No Signal and goes to sleep

from what you have described it appears that the onboard video might have malfunctioned, there is no way to replace it, you can however go buy a video card from your nearest computer retailer. you just want to make sure it is compatible with your machine. on another note from what your saying the keyboard is donig i would be wary about spending to much $$ because it could also be your motherboard

Monitor malfunction, says VGA Input: No Signal and goes to sleep

If it was your video card, you would have no picture at all. Try to boot in safe mode and do into your options and make sure your hibernation is not on. Only other thing I can think of, it could be *********** board.
