How do I get rid of viruses?

Firstly you must have virus protection on your computer. There are plenty of free anti virus software on the internet. Avira, AVG No need to accept the extras that come with the download. Or Windows Security Essentials seem to do a good job. Run the program and find out what type of virus it is. Do some searches on the internet and find out the best way to get rid of it. Sometimes the best way is the easiest way. Maybe , just your anti virus software is enough. Free Malwarebytes is also a must to install on a windows OS. Personally I will not surf the internet if I do have anti virus software and Malwarebytes.

Download and install microsoft security essentials, its free and better then most pay programs.

Next try a disc clean up and run the defrag program found in programs system tools.

This should speed it up and get rid of any virus you may have.

I just cant get on any page on the internet it just says server not found

There are many reasons for this. There may be parental controls active on the system, or your computer may be struggling to connect to the internet. Check your Internet Explorer settings. Click Tools on the right hand corner, select Internet Options, click on the Connections tab. At the bottom of the connections tab it should say LAN Settings. Select LAN Settings and there should be three boxes with a check option. The last one should say something along the lines of "use a proxy server". If it is checked, uncheck it. I experienced something similar to what you were experiencing. It turns out that a computer virus disguised as an Antivirus software called Antivir Pro Solutions or some variation of that, prevented my computer from accessing any websites, and eventually prevented me from opening programs. That particular virus was able to change the proxy server settings to its very own proxy server, and once I got rid of the virus using a program called Malwarebytes (awesome& very reliable program btw), the Internet Explorer settings remained on a proxy server. All I did was unchecked it and the internet returned. If you have a legitimate Antivirus software such as Mcafee or Norton by Symantec, I suggest you run a scan before anything. Some security features such as CA Security are good for somethings, but not for others. I had CA Security when I caught the virus. If you have CA, I suggest you download Malwarebytes as a secondary precaution. Anyways, I hope it's not a virus. Good Luck!

I have webroot antivirus and spysweeper on this home computer, but my husbands laptop has no security on his at all. Now he has gotten something called Security Tool virus on his and we CANNOT GET RID OF...

He is learning the hard way!!

Install "malwarebytes" free from the internet (Best free anti-spyware on the net) / install / update / full scan / remove everything that shows.

My strong advice is to PAY for an anti-virus program as they are far superior to free ones.
