Question about Craftsman 42 in. Deck 19.5hp Lawn Tractor

1 Answer

After stopping, tractor does not engage in forward or reverse

After running fine for an hour, stopped for lunch. Started tractor up again, turned on blade, but tractor would not engage in forward or reverse. Seems locked up somehow. Pushing the forward or reverse pedal results in wurring sound, but does not engage.

Negative. If you mean the "rod bypass", it is not pulled out. But I believe you're onto the problem. The rod was pulled out during winter storage, then engaged when operating the first time this season. Pulled it out again after operation to push the machine into shed. Since then the wheels remain locked whether the rod is in or out.

Zero turn will not move forward reverse or turn

These units use Hydraulic pumps for motivation. If the unit stopped all at one time, I suspect a drive belt came off.
For both pumps to fail at the same time would be very odd. Check the v-belt driving the wheel pumps.

No forward/reverse motion

This sounds like you have a bad bearing in one of the blade hubs or idler pulleys. Check by turning each pulley by hand and see if it turns easily. Go around all the pulleys and blade hubs(where the blades mount) and check for ruff spots while turning, and that they all turn freely. Do this without the blade engaged, this will allow them to turn somewhat freely.

My caterpillar D7F was shifting forward and backward one day we came to start the machine it wouldn't engage in reverse after sometime it stop engage forward. what could possibly be the problem?

This could be a very simple fix to an oh my god. First check your fluid levels. My initial thought is how it slowly started to stop shifting is that you need to fill your transmission fluid. If that is the case after it is full then you will be able to shift fine. Second part of your problem then is finding out where it is leaking and get that fixed. If it is just a leak count your blessings, fix it before using it again and always check your fluid levels often.

When backing up the mower blades shut down and won't come back on when I try to go forward again.

on most riding lawn tractors you most first disengage the blades before going into reverse moving the tractor stop, put the tractor in a forward gear then re-engage the blades. if this dose not help please contact me. Thank you

Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver

John Deere L120 transmission high pitch noise and no forward move

Try jacking the unit up. Start it up and try moving pushing the forward and reverse back and forth and see if it does it then. It sounds like an oil way in the hydrostatic unit has a check valve stuck. Of course make sure that the fluid lever is up. Hope this will help you. donnyb60
