Question about Dynex DX-LCD32-09 LCD TV

3 Answers

Our 2-yr old Dynex DX-LCD32-09 just "died". On power-up, backlight comes on and screen says "PLEASE WAIT" for about one second then goes off. Backlight appears to be on but there is no video and no audio. Any ideas?

"Locate cold solder joint"???? Can't you come up with something more creative than that?

Look, I'm experienced in electronics, have multimeters, oscilloscope, signal injector, spectrum analyzer, power supplies, etc., and know how to use them.

How about providing a troubleshooting flow chart specific to this model?

2010.May.09.11:52 Took unit apart looking for the "cold solder joint" you suggested. In doing so, let me revise the symptoms.

Have audio and no video. Also, I had thought that backlight was on, but this is not so. It comes on momentarily during boot up then goes off, thus no video.

I have been unsatisfied with the "canned" responses I've gotten so far on this problem so I'm going to restate the problem anew and hope that it will be reassigned to someone more savvy.
My DX-LCD32-09 died. On power-up it displays "Please Wait" for about 2 seconds then the backlight goes off and there is no video. Audio is OK.
I opened unit and visual inspection shows no obviously burned components (or infamous cold solder joints).
I have multimeter, scope, signal generator, etc. and know how to use them.
Can you supply troubleshooting flowchart specific to this model or tell me where to get one? Any other advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Most likely the processor is dead. It's on the digital main board part number 6HV0016910.

Hi,

This is a Common Message on this TV, Run a DVD player and see, if you could see the same Message. If yes, it is Reported to have 2 Problems :-

1. Power Supply Board - ou need to Open the TV. Make sure it would be Unplugged. You need to Take all the Precautions. Locate the Power Supply Board. Remove the Connectors and Pull out the Board. Once you Pull out the Board, with the Help of Magnifying Glass, locate Cold Solder Joint. If Everything is OK, then you would Locate Bulged / Leaked / Swelled Caps. They would have Ammonia kind of Odor. You need to De-Solder them. You could take the same to Radio Shack / Fry's / Order Online. Once you get the New Caps, Solder them and it is all set.You also need to Check Fuses around that.

2. Main Board

These are the 2 Common Causes. Also, make sure that the Cords are fine. I have seen sometimes, Video Signal Cord could be at Fault. But, more likely it is Power Supply Board.

On Rare Occasions, it could be Faulty Screen ( 1% Chance ).

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I had the same issue. Replaced the Power Supply Board for $35 and the Main Board for $70 and neither were the issue. TV still powers up, says "Please Wait..." and then goes black. Anyone got a different solution?

Hallo there
You could try to adjust the colour setting in the PICTURE menu and keep a enough distance between the tv and other electronic objects in the room.
Give it a try

No picture

By blank, do you mean a white screen? If you have a white screen and sound, then the LCD panel has failed, either the internal panel or the T-Con board driving it. Only an expect can tell you if it can be fixed. Lots of these sets die within 3 yrs. The cheap brands faster than the better brands.

Dynex tv no picture screen comes on and then goes black

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.

Dynex dx-pdvd9 backlight died

Unfortunately these small electronics are so proprietary, a replacement backlight would have to be one specially made by Dynex. Dynex probably won't sell you a new backlight, they'll just sell you a whole new unit. It'd probably be cheaper that way too.

But you can try. You can talk directly with them using this website:
http://www.dynexproducts.com/pc-519-22-dynex-9-169-widescreen-portable-dvd-player.aspx

And ask them how much a replacement backlight would cost.
