Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 8
If facebook is blocked by your IT department, they have a pretty good reason for doing so.
You can use proxy website to be able to get through blocked sites but if your IT security is good, chances are these proxy sites are blocked as well.
I have tried accessing Facebook with a proxy website and they are pretty strict about this. Facebook will detect that you are trying to log in with an IP (the proxy website) that is not familiar to them. You will have to go to a series of security check before they will let you through.
Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate. All the best!

Tips for a great answer:
Dec 01, 2015 | Facebook Social Network
blacklist this url: http://facebook.com/ajax/chat/
users will see how many friends are online, but if they go to send anyone a message, it will never go through, and chat history does not show up. I am sure you can block more extensively, but for a quick and dirty fix, this does the trick.
