Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
Kenmore Series 90 washing machine, model # 110.26912691. It is about 12 years old.
The rinse cycle and the spin cycle work with no problems. The problem I have is that the wash cycle will not fill the washing machine with water, nor will it it agitate. If I spin the control knob to rinse, it pours water in the tub and it will continue the cycle through the spin cycle and remove the water no problem.
The funny thing is that if I turn the dial to the last 2 minutes of the permanent press cycle, it will in fact fill the tub and agitate for only 2 minutes so I twirl it around again for another 2 minute cycle two more times so I can get the machine to wash for 3- 2 min. cycles and it continues through the rest of the rinse and spin cycles.
First, see the Sears Parts site for your washer:
Next, see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for top load, direct drive washers:
I hate to say it but it sounds like a Timer problem.
I'd use the troubleshooting section of the Service Manual and the timer testing procedures to confirm the problem.
Note that there are two types of timers with different procedures to remove them.
Also see the following for how to release the console for access to the timer and other controls.
