I have Acrobat 5.0 and an attachment in an email cannot be downloaded. I keep getting the message that the file is damaged. What can I do?

Firstly update acrobat to the latest version It may be that it does not recognise this file because it was written on an UPline version.
Also make sure you are not trying to load the new DIGITAL Acrobat file in the standard Acrobat.

The file may also be damaged from its source so try redownloading it again and reading it on another PC thyat has an uo tgo date reader

Try to download the file again or if it was sent to you via email, have the sender verify they can open the file & resend it. There are tools you can use to try to fix problems in PDF files, but they should be used as a last resort since they cannot fix all errors without data loss or corruption.

When you exit Acrobat 7, Acrobat returns the error message,"the application is being terminated because of memory corruption."

Solutions

Do one of the following solutions:

Solution 1: Install the Acrobat 7.0.8 update.

If you have Acrobat 7.0, choose Help > Check For Updates Now to install the update. Alternately, you can download the update from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/downloads/ .

Solution 2: Remove the files from theAcrobat Organizer folder.

When you remove files from the Acrobat Organizer folder, you force Acrobat to rebuild the Organizer database. This process replaces any damaged files in the Organizer that may be causing the error message.

To remove the files from the Acrobat Organizer folder:

1.Choose Start > Run.

2.In the Open text box, type:%UserProfile%\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\7.0\Organizer70.


3.Delete or move all filesfrom this directory.

Solution3: Remove the files from the Updaterfolder.

You may receive this error message after a failed update, indicating that the files in the Updater folder are corrupted.

To remove the files from the Updater folder:

1. Choose Start > Run.

Why won't attachments open


There are a few reasons why the attachment might not open and appear correctly:

* You might have problems viewing an attachment if your browser is not properly configured to view that type of file. Usually, the easiest solution is to upgrade your browser to the most recent version:

Hi Kate1958. I found this for you. Do one or more of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Remove all versions of Acrobat or Reader, and then reinstall one version.
If multiple versions of Acrobat or Reader are installed on the system, remove all versions and then install only one version. See the documentation included with Windows for information about removing programs.
Note: If you need to have multiple versions of an Acrobat product installed, remove all versions and then reinstall them starting with the earliest, installing the latest version last.
Solution 2: Start Acrobat or Reader, and then open the PDF file in the web browser.
If an error occurs when you try to start Acrobat or Reader, refer to Related Documents below, or search the Adobe Support Knowledgebase:
-- If you use Acrobat, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrobat.html .
-- If you use Reader, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html .
Solution 3: Make sure that the External Window Handler file (ewh32.api) is in the Plug-ins folder.

Disable Web Browser Integration so that PDF files open directly in Acrobat or Reader instead of in the web browser.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 6.0.x -7.0.x or Reader 6.0.x -7.0.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Reader.
2. Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet.
3. Deselect Display PDF in Browser.
4. Click OK.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 5.x or Acrobat Reader 5.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
2. Choose Edit > Preferences > General.
3. Click Options in the list in the Preferences dialog box.
4. Deselect Display PDF in Browser.
5. Click OK.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 4.x or Acrobat Reader 4.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
2. Choose File > Preferences > General.
3. Deselect Web Browser Integration in the General Preferences dialog box.

I have Windows EX, and Lexmark All -In-One 2300. I have tried various ways and followed help suggestions but I am unable to make attachments. I cannot attach from SCAN or from File. Everything OK until...


It sounds like you are combining too problems into one. You can attach any file to an email. However if that file is a type that your computer is not aware of (ie. you don't have software that uses that kind of file) you will get a application association error.

Computers use the last three letters of the file name after the "." to determine the file type....it's also called an extension. This comes from the old DOS days and is still in effect today, (sort of). It's getting increasingly difficult to see the extension of a particular file in Vista for instance.

In any case if you want to scan an image and attach it to an email you must first get the scanned image in a file format that most computers can understand, for instance a .jpg format (JPEG) or .pdf (Adobe Acrobat). You can usually change the file type in your scanning software as an option. Perhaps a "Save As" function exists under a file menu?

Once you get the file in a folder (ie. "My Documents") you can then open your email software, create a new message and use the attach file button, select the file and it should attach.

Opening downloads on emails


all you need to know is the file extension of the file you downloaded. there are some common file extensions when attaching to the email . pdf , doc, if pictures the JPG,PNG, BMP, and many more. however if u have an office application program (Microsoft office,open office) all office files will be opened but if the file extension is PDF you must download and install the PDF reader. you can download it here http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
Take note! Any other files which you don't whose the sender and the extension files is not on office application program not pdf or picture files maybe can harm your system so be sure to know the files.
