Check in CTRL Panel SYSTEM Device Manager HARDWARE and delete the reference to the power shot.
Also you can try uninstalling it and then reboot and installing it again.
USB plugs can be a nuisance sometimes by chganging the port to suit whatever new installtion of a usb device wants to use. I have had this happen several times with my canon.

I can alter the port numbers But i am reluctant to tell you what is involvd iun case it causes you more grief than what you already have. just follow my basic suggestions and it should help to get it back. Do not have the camera connected when you reinstall it. Let it be rediscovered after installation, when you connect it WEindows will then load all the drivers and set the port for you.
Please rate my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

I ended up solving this by briefly removing the memory card and the battery from the camera, then reinserting them. This seemed to re-set everything and it then all worked well!

Camera No Longer Being Recognized

Does it connect to the PC via a USB cable? Then try connecting to a different USB port or if you have try a new USB cable. I had the same problem with my IXUS 400 and changing to a new USB port, directly to the PC - not a USB hub, it worked. However now I have several issues with my camera - no sound or image on the LCD screen, but I think these are unrelated.
