Hi,

Sorry to hear about this, I have run across this before, it is the start windings on the motor that have gone out. The main windings seems to last okay so once it is up to speed it works.

The part for the last one I did was $146.00.

The winding is part of the motor, so you would have to replace the motor. It is a fairly complex job on this model as you have to take apart a lot of things to get to it.

I just checked online and repair clinic seems to have the best price. Their part number is 1330330. Typically if you call a service company they will want to supply the part, that way they can guaranty it for you. Below is the link to the part, it has a picture of it.

I will look around for a manual for you. LG is usually a bit harder to find one for than most. If I can't find one I will see if I can put some steps together for you to follow, I will respond to this chain when I find something.

I cannot find a repair manual for any LG dryer, but I did find a parts breakdown on this website.

    http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partse...

If you look on the left side of the webpage there are images of the parts exploded view. The first couple are missing but the others are there. It might help. Sorry I do not have more.

Will not spin

You have a bad motor. At 15 years old, best to put money towards new one. Most motors are over $150 plus home call and labor charge if you call in a service company and you would still end up with a 15 year old dryer.

Frig. gas dryer agq6000es not tumbling

Do you hear the motor running? With door closed.
Most dryers will spin though a little hard to do so. If it spins VERY easy the belt is possibly broken.
If the dryer is several years old it Could be the belt.
Also check for a switch for the door, if there is one.
Door switch would shut off dryer when opened.

Why does dryer spin with door open?

Hi Mandy,

The fact that the light bulb is out *and* the drum continues to spin when the door is opened - all point to a faulty door switch.

This switch tells the machine the "status" of the door position. When the door is open, it turns on the light *and* stops / prevents the drum from starting. When closed, the light is shut off *and* the drum is permitted to spin. You should have the switch serviced as if a wire came loose it adds a potential shock hazard - in addition to the safety issue of placing hands into a spinning drum.

Hotpoint aquarius WMF740 (1 year old) - noisey spin

its the drum bearings there worn out try opening the door and lifting the top of the drum with your fingers if there is any life and the drum drops back when you let it go its them bearings,, then spin the drum by hand is should grumble or growl,,,if it dont do any of this, it could be the "spider" broken off, its an ally part that holds the drum bearings and the drum up,

I have a 10 year old Maytag Performa. It started

Hello, try checking the door switch, with no light in the drum it points to the door switch being bad. To test this unplug the machine, bypass the door switch with a wirenut..Don't forget to replace the switch if bad, the door switch is there for a reason. Good Luck!!! Please feel free to comment again if you have any other questions or concerns. Mike

I have to manually get drum turning...

Yes, there is a "startup" switch. It's the button you push on the panel (but I'm sure you know about that).

This switch energizes the start winding in the motor -- when the motor gets up to speed, a centrifugal switch in the motor disconnects the power from the start winding and switches to the run winding.

Either the start winding is not getting power or the winding is bad. If "no power" is the problem, it could be the button on the panel or a loose/dirty connection between there and the start winding. Lot of possibilities which need to be explored.

But if you know about pushing the safety switch on the door and spinning the drum by hand to get the motor started, you can probably fix this.

High efficency dryer won't spin-Frigidaire

Try this. Set the timer. Open the door, press and hold the light switch. Rotate the drum by hand then while still holding the light switch turn on the dryer. If it starts then clos the door while removing your finger quickly. If this problem persists it could be the starter on your motor.

Door locking & drum noisy

It sounds as though the main drum bearings are failing, if you spin the drum by hand and it feels rough or sounds niosy, then it is definately the main bearings. there should be little or no noise when you spin the drum by hand.. Re the door lock,I do not think the two problems are related, could be a faulty door lock that is taking too long to release.

If the m/c is under 5 years old, then you should be able to get it put right under Hotpoint 5 year guarantee

You pay for labour, all parts are free, and in your case the cost of parts, would in excess of £100.00
So it would be worth a phone call to Hotpoint to confirm if you are covered.
Plz rate my solution,
Thanks.
