The same thing happened with me also when my office package was upgraded. On the top left hand side if you will click you will get all the menus. that pops up with the initial file menu. For short cut you can hit control + s. that will also do the same thing.

First of all you shall ensure that MS Office package is installed on your pc. In order to do that click on start click on run and type winword and click ok. If word opens then your pc is having ms office installed and excel will work. If not then in order to save the excel you will have to install ms office on your pc. If installed then in order to save a workbook you can simply press ctrl alongwith 's' key to save your document. The only problem with 2007 is that if you save excel in 2007 you won't be able to open it in earlier versions of ms office. To open files in earlier versions also you need to do save as. To achieve save as you will have to click at the extreme top left side on a big button with windows logo on it and a drop down menu will appear. It's the same menu as in earlier versions of ms office appears after clicking on file menu.
