ERROR 51: PAPER SENSOR TRIPPED WITHOUT OTHER INDICATIONS OF A PAPER JAM

This problem can happen because of following reasons:

1. There is some piece of paper / paper clip / sticker stuck inside printer and you are not able to access it. In this case you need to turn off printer, then turn it upside down and shake it few times. Then try to start it normally. If still not working then you need to open it up as much you can to see if something is stuck

2. The electric sensor which receives signal from the mechanical paper sensor to detect jam has issues. Either there is dust on it or its gone bad and needs replacement. You should first open up the printer and blow air in it to remove all dust.

If it doesn't work then this repair unfortunately will cost you much more than buying a new Printer. You will have to contact the manufacturer, or utilize the warranty repair service.

I am using my Brother MFC 240 C printer for the first time. I bought all new ink cartridges, installed them, the printhead cleaned....all that to say everything seemed to be in order. When I press print...

Hello.
Brother printers have very fine tubes running from the cartridges to the actual print head itself. Using it for the first time you may need to run the head cleaning process up to 3 times to get the ink primed to the head correctly.
If it still does not work i would say that it is a mechanical failure and recommended taking it back to where you purchased it from for a replacement.
I hope this helps Regards GM

My MFC 240 is printing blanks, with both black and colors. It is doing the printing motions but just coming out blanks.

Go into the printer properties and access print head clean. this should fix it assuming the ink tanks have ink in them!!

Brother 240-c

try to run the cleaning on the machine 5-6 times, if this does not fix it the print head is really clogged and would need to be removed and cleaned manually by a tech. to clean press the ink button then ok twice and print the test page after it comes out it will prompt you for the cleaning, just keep going through this 5-6 times and see if it improves.

How to improve print quality
Cleaning the print head
To ensure good print quality, the MFC will regularly clean the print
head. You can start the cleaning process manually if needed.
Clean the print head and ink cartridges if you get a horizontal line in
the text or graphics on your printed pages. You can clean Black only
or three colors at a time (Cyan/Yellow/Magenta), or all four colors at
once.
Cleaning the print head consumes ink. Cleaning too often uses ink
unnecessarily.
Caution
Do NOT touch the print head. Touching the print head may cause
permanent damage and may void the print head’s warranty.
1 Press Ink.
2 Press or to select Cleaning.
Press Menu/Set.
3 Press or to select Black, Color or All.
Press Menu/Set.
The MFC will clean the print head. When cleaning is finished,
the MFC will go back to standby mode automatically.
If you clean the print head at least five times and the print has
not improved, call Brother Customer Service (see Brother
numbers on page i).
