Question about Frigidaire 24 in. FDB1050REC Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

It is starting to make loud grinding noises

The dishwasher was in the home when we purchased it. It has always made a lot of noise, but is now getting much more louder. It sounds to me like it is the pump when it is discharging the water. This dishwasher has always been very slow in a normal wash compared to other dishwashers that we have owned through the years.

Hello,

It does sound as if you have an issue with the pump it may have broken glass or some sort of debris that has already done internal damage to the pump impellor, especially if the noise has been there for a while. The one option is an inspection of the pump for wear or blockage.Hope this has helped.

Good Luck.

95 Buick lesabre making loud grinding noise when starting. Once started runs and drives fine no noises

Yes, you are probably right about the spacer or shim. A salvage yard should have lots of them for little or nothing. When you remove the starter for the spacer, check the drive gear end of the starter for severe wear. If it is chewed off very bad, have a new drive gear put on, or replace the starter.

The dishwasher is starting to make a loud grinding noise. Could it be the pump or the arms not spinning? It has always made a lot of noise, but is now getting much more louder.

Kenmore Elite 137889, grinding noise

If the noise is like a shaking of rattling , like coins being shaked , then it is an object trapped inside the tub.

If instead the noise is a loud grinding , that may get louder on high speed, then it is usually a bad drum bearing.

The drum bearing is replaced by accessing the bottom side of the washer, and is a not a simple repair.

Most likely the motor as food caught in the sump would not make a noise you described.

Loud rattling grinding noise when pump is running, no water enters the machine.

Make sure the water is turned on to the machine, if it is then it sounds like a faulty water fill valve, just replace the fill valve, they can sometimes be cleaned but I would never trust one, they can always stick in the on position later and flood your house. Check to see if the valve is geting 120v ac before replaceing the valve, if it's getting voltage and no water is flowing then the valve is bad. You will need to borrow or buy a multi-meter for this test.

Dishwasher making loud noise

Newer washers are designed with a food grinder inside to help grind up large pieces of food. What you are hearing is the grinder doing its job. You do not need to worry about the noise. It should go away after a while as the food particle is ground up.

Loud grinding noise when washer is draining

something in the impeller housing. not usually serviceable. not sure if that unit has two pumps. you could look underneath the tub and try to determine that, and where the noise is coming from.
i am confident the issue relates to a pump unit.
good luck
