Changing of the language is only possible by doing the recovery on the computer and setting up the computer to the desired language preference.
in xp computer recovery is done by using the f10 key.
follow the step:-
shut the comp off.
press the pwr button to restart the comp and immediately start hitting the f10 key and you will get the recovery manager window.
donot do system restore move next and select system recovery follow the wizard and the recovery will start//
note:-before doing recovery do the backup of all ur documents and also disconnect printer and internet connection/
once recovery is compleate follow the setup window and it will give you the language option to select//
select the right option and work is done//
if the language option is grayed out then you will have to buy the retail cd from store with the language preference.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

How to change the language of my laptop from korean to english, the brand of my laptop is LG.I tried to change from the language from the control panel but it doesn't change.

Hi ccharlescart ,

Welcome to FixYa! How are you doing?

You did not specify the operating system you are using (whether Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7).

If you are using Windows XP, I suggest you reformat the Hard Drive and install a fresh copy of Windows XP.

But if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can download a language pack that will allow you to change the language to English. By the way. Windows 7 starter edition does not have an option to change the language.

Hope it helps. Thank you for using FixYa!

Changing Computer Language to English in Windows XP If you bought your computer with Windows XP in some other language set as default, you need not worry. You can always change it using the Control Panel. English, along with several widely used languages, is present in almost all Windows XP installations. You only need to set it up so that your copy of Windows XP works with English.
The following steps explain how to change computer language to English in Windows XP.
1. Open Control Panel and double click on the Regional and Language Options icon.
2. In the first tab, Regional Options, select English (US), English (UK), or any other English (there are many versions of English pre-loaded) as per your wish. The option is available in the first drop down list under Standards and Formats (see Fig 1). You may also click the Customize button next to the drop down to customize the format of date, time, currency etc.
3. Click on the next tab, Languages and then click the button labeled Details. In the Text Services and Input Languages dialog box, you can see all the installed languages. Select English in the list of available languages under Default Language Settings (Fig 2).
4. To create a keyboard shortcut for switching among installed languages, use the Key Settings under Preferences (Fig 3). Please note that you can also use the Language bar to switch among languages. Click OK to close the dialog box.
5. To set English as the default language for the particular user account, click on the Advanced tab of Regional and Language Options dialog box. Make sure English is being displayed in the drop down box and check the last option in the dialog box (See Fig 4).
6. Click OK to close the dialog box and logoff for the settings to take effect.
Though this is the most common method used to change the computer language to English in Windows XP, it only changes the GUI and sometimes creates problems with few applications such as Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. If you are facing such problems, you can download MUI patches from MS download center.
NOTE: The above method is often considered as a temporary solution when you have to use different languages. To change the computer language to English in Windows XP so that it has a system wide affect, it is recommended that you perform a fresh install of Windows XP and select English when prompted for language during installation. Later, you may install other languages as required.

HI.I BOUGHT EEEPC1001P WITH WIN XP HOME RUSSIAN BUT I WANT TO CHANGE THE OPERATING SYSTEM TO WIN XP PRO TURKISH.WHAT CAN I DO?HOW CAN I DO THAT?PLEASE ANSWER IMMIDIATELY.

There is a very expensive Microsoft program that allows language changes but it is for corprate licenses. Us poor folks have to buy a new copy of XP in the language we want and reinstall.
You can change some of the language by:
  • Open the Control Panel.
  • Open Regional and Language Options.
  • Click the Languages tab.

  • Changing the language does not change the language of the menus and dialogs of Windows or Windows applications like Internet Explorer.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/winxp/yourlanguage.mspx has more discussion on what can and cannot be changed.

Go to the start button, then control panel, when you open control panel
if you don't see Region and Language, look up in the top corner and switch to classic view.

In region and language is where you change the language and keyboard.

If Chinese is not there, you might have to have the windows XP disk,'
to install the language, so times they are not all installed to save space.

Also, go to windows updates, its also in control panel, check for updates, you might find that you can load the language from there .
