Question about Norelco Cool Skin 7775X Electric Shaver

1 Answer

I have a Norelco 5822 XL cordless electric shaver. Suddenly it went dead and wouldn't take a charge. I took it to Batteries plus where the salesman said the batteries were completely dead. He changed the batteries, but it still will not hold a charge and the charging lights do not come on. Any ideas on what may be wrong?

If the old batteries were corroded, that may have damaged the circuit board. If the batteries were getting hot before the shaver died, the heat may also have damaged the circuit board. It is also very possible that the salesperson did not do a good job installing them as they are not trained in replacing batteries in shavers.

It is advised that you change the batteries when you realize that they are no longer charging properly. Most likely, only the batteries need to be changed but it is possible that you have caused further damage due to leaving it plugged in continuously and the batteries may hae become corroded or leaked.

Dead batteries will cause the shaver not to charge. Batteries for model 5821XL can be found at See link below

To change, remove two screws on back and remove back cover. Remove plastic clip that is in the way of removing batteries. For easier replacement, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs
If you are not able to repair the shaver yourself, can do it for you. See link below
