"SUD" is a Suds Detect error code. The following link explains the error and some potential causes:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608687-sud_error

The number one cause of the error comes from using too much, or the wrong type of detergent. You are required to use High Efficiency (HE) detergent with these washers because the concentration is formulated for HE washers that use small amounts of water. Using the wrong type of detergent can also void any warranty you may have.

NOTE: HE detergent does not have a lot of suds, which often confuses consumers into thinking they aren't using enough detergent. With HE washers little to no suds if normal and preferred.

Secondary causes can come from something restricting the drainage system. Most notably, something lodged in the drain pump and/or drain hose(s). I've included a follow-on link that explains how to check the drain pump reservior if required.

Each one of these washers come with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front feet of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and wiring diagrams. I mention the tech sheet because you may need it from time to time to troubleshoot your washer.

Read through the information provided and let me know if you have any further questions. I hope this can help you.

Washer is flashing the word sud

Hi, here is the meaning of the SUD error code and the corrective actions. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Mike

"Sud" SUDS LOCK (Overdose of Detergent detected during the Wash Cycle)
The motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If "Sud" is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds.
  • If too much detergent was used, run the unit through a Rinse/Spin cycle, then a Normal cycle, without adding any detergent. This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check Wire Harness connectors to the Drain Pump, Pressure Switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check/Clean Drain Pump Filter of foreign objects
  • Check Drain Pump
  • Check Pressure Switch
  • Check CCU

The following link explains the "SUD" error and how to correct:

The error can be caused from obstructions in your drain pump (or lines) to using the wrong type (or too much) of detergent. Read through the link thoroughly and let me know what you find. This problem usually has a simple remedy that does not require a repairman. However, if you require additional assistance, or have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Whirlpool duet washer flashing sud then f21 ????????

The "SUD" error is in direct relationship the other error code. "F21" is a Long Drain error. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r1484065-f21_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

If something is preventing water from pumping through the drain pump, you will often get a "SUD" error as air is developed in the pump. Make sure you double check all the drain lines as well.

If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know before you rate the solution. I hope this helps you.

Have "sud" code and"f 02" code

I don't have a solution but I feel your pain.

I had an F02 error flashing so I got brave and took off the front panel and opened up the drain thing. What a mess! Water everywhere and OMG,the filter was caked with goop, a popsicle stick and a piece of metal.

I still get a Sud error so I am having the Sears guy out in the morning.

Washer issue

Unplug the washer for at least 30 minutes. Sometimes this is all that is required to clear momentary glitches with the control board. If that does not correct the problem, the following link explains the "SUD" error:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r629564-suds_error_whirlpool_kenmore_front

Hopefully, this is just a momentary problem and nothing else. The link I provided will give you guidance on what to do if the problem persists. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you still require assistance.

Washer flashing F then went to SUD

Drop the drain hose so that it is lower than the drain and let all the water run out of the machine. Open the door and remove all washing. Let machine go through rinse cycle with some milk mixed in with the water, (pour the milk into the soap container, about one cup) and make sure there are no soap suds left in the machine. Check that you are using washing powder which is recommended for front loaders.
