SOURCE: what's wrong with my camera

Hi there!

There may ba a couple of reasons for this - so check which you think most likely first.

If this is a new memory card, it may be too big for the camera. Some of the older models can't handle the larger sizes.

The memory may be corrupted. This is quite a common problem, but we haven't figered out if it is temperature, use or handling that is causing these errors.

The camera's driver may be sending out spurious faults. The way to correct this is by downloading a new driver for it, and reloading it.

Battery faults also give other problems too, so it's often wise to remove everything, then load up from scratch.

I hope one of these solves the problem for you.

First, make sure that the new memory card does not have the protect tab in the lock position. The new card must be unlocked and formatted before your camera will be able to use it. Also, make sure that the size card that you have purchased has not over shot the ability of your camera. I think that a 2 GB card is as large as you can use. Just because the card fits into the slot does not mean that the camera will address it!

Yes, there is.

Insert the card into the camera. Make sure the storage location is set to internal memory.

Press the Review button, then press the Menu button. Press up/down to highlight Copy, then press OK. Press up/down to highlight an option, then press OK.

Note: this process is actually a copy, not a move. The originals will still be in internal memory. After you transfer the pics to your computer, you can then delete them normally.

To change the storage location, press the Menu button. Press up/down to highlight Image Storage, then press OK. Select Internal Memory and press OK.

The Internal memory is full, how do I switch back to memory card?

With most cameras, simply inserting a compatible, formatted memory card into the slot will make the camera use the card instead of the internal memory.

If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post giving the make and model of your camera and the type and size of your memory card.

When i insert the memory card into my canon sd780 and it reads no pictures, when i know there are picture in the memory card, also when i insert the memory card in the computer it wont recognize it, what...

Sounds like the card has become corrupted. Try the recovery software, along with the corrupted card procedures at this link. Of the software listed, try MiniTool first, and if that doesn't work, next try PhotoRec.

Why won't my Olympus sp-600UZ accept my memory card. It' keeps tell me error can't read card

Ok try this for you to determine if your memory card is defective or not, try to insert your card to a device that support the type of memory card you have. Then if it still doesn't work i assume your memory card is defective. But if the memory will work try to insert other memory card on your camera for you to determine if your camera memory slot has a problem. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W370 says reinsert memory card. We have reinsert the card correctly but it continues to say that. Is the camera beyond repair?

you'll make sure that you camera is not the problem is when you insert other memory card that is working on other cameras. if that doesn't work at all try to look for any foreign object that block memory card insertion contacts or you can buy a contact cleaner spray for electronic parts and spray it on the memory card holder part of the camera.

When I turn on my camera it says "Format Formatting the memory will delete all data (images/voicefiles) yes no" What does this mean?

You are getting this because you have inserted a new memory card or a memory card which was used on a different device into your camera.
In order for your camera to use this card, it needs to format it. In this process the camera makes changes to the card's data storing structure to suit the camera.
If the memory card doesn't contain any data you need, answer yes.

The camera says the internal memory is full. I inserted a 16gb memory card took two pictures and 1, 30 sec video. What is wrong?

There is nothing wrong. The camera is telling you the internal memory (of the camera itself) is full. The camera will not write to the memory card until the internal memory is wiped clean. To do this, with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. After that, your card should work properly.

My camera doesn`t read memory card.I tried with 2

On most cameras, once you start to use the internal memory, the camera doesn't want to read a memory card. You need to go into the menu and "reset" the camera. Then, with no card in the camera, go into the menu and "format" the internal memory. Then, insert the card and "format" it. This will erase it so download any pics first.

How do I enter my sandisk into my kodak easyshare camera?

  1. Open the camera memory card door on the side of the camera.

  2. Insert the camera memory card into the slot with the connecting end of the card facing the camera, and the lip on the card facing toward the front of the camera. CAUTION: The camera memory card can only be inserted one way into the camera. Forcing the card in the wrong way may damage your camera.
  3. Push the camera memory card all of the way into the card slot and then close the door. Make sure that no dirt is present when you close the door.
Hope this can help you.

Kind regards
