SOURCE: I get puddles of water

Remove the food and the ice maker from the freezer ( if equiped ) . Remove the rear freezer panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the middle , below the coils , defrosting , until you see the drain hole . Use hot water to help defrost the hole . Once water starts going thru the hole , use a small hose inserted into the hole , and blow thru , to remove any unseen debris in the drain line . Use an ALUMINUM or COPPER solid wire , 14-16 guage , with the insulation completely off , and insert one end into the drain hole as far as possible without any force . Wrap the other end about 1 1/2 to 2 turns , around the black rod (defrost heater) , above the hole . When refrig goes into defrost , the heat will transfer from the heater , to the wire , keeping the hole from freezing up again .

Tip

Keeping your eggs at their freshest

Although it is very thoughtful of refrigerator manufacturers to provide us with special containers for our eggs, did you know that eggs stay fresher in their original containers (not the hen)? Research has shown that both cardboard and styrofoam egg cartons provide identical results regarding keeping eggs at a safe temperature. To be even safer, place the styrofoam or cardboard carton in the bottom of the refrigerator, NOT THE DOOR, The door is one of the warmest places in the refrigerator and dairy products (eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, sour cream, etc.) should NEVER be stored there!

I get puddles of water under milk and juice cartons. Sometimes the whole top shelf is a puddle of water. It is a glass shelf.

Ice maker does not make much ice - what could be the problem. overnight only about a quarter of the tray is full - Ice compartment is never full no matter how long it is between using the ice. What can...

You can boost ice production by cleaning the fins below. The better air circulation around the compressor the better performance you get. The water filter may need replacing. The water valve may need replacing. I have the same ice box as you and have not noticed a problem with the shelves. You can adjust shelf heights you know.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

GE Profile PSS25MGMB is too cold

After viewing the pictures of this part on this web-site - I took this part out of my refridge to see if the door was stuck closed or stuck open ( closed = fridge too warm and stuck open is too cold - my problem). The door within this part was broken off the hinge. I took this part apart - styrofoam and tape - and glued the door back together and in place with 2 part epoxy. I reassembled and everything seems OK now.

If this begins to happen again - I will probably just order a new part.

I think it is outrageous that a $700 fridge's performance is regulated by a cheap 50 cent piece of plastic. Spend another dime and make this piece glavanized aluminum? or other material that does not dry rot and holds up in cold dry environments.
