    Hy!
I have the same problem with my printer. But the bigest problem is that even after reinstaling the s/w it does not respond. The lights(the buttons)respond in the same non working way as they did before i reinstaled the s/w.
It is as if the printer was completely dead.
    Powerless
    What to do?

Maybe the back door (for removing paper jams) is not closed.
Rotating door knob needs to be pushed to the end - even if it seems to be hard, there is some more space to the end. Printer won't work if the back door is open.

Well..sometimes when a paper jam occurs, it shuts the whole system down..

you may wish to remove the s/w for that printer through control panel

go here for updates drivers

re install the s/w

run test page, calibrate and clean cycles.

Paper jam hp deskjet 1280

Hi syarief03120,

Actually you can manually remove the paper from the printer. It can be pulled out from the feed area.
And to clear the paper jam message: You have to take the back cover off, there is a reset switch in the top left hand lock hole. Use an object to push in the pin hole. After that put back the cover on. This should help you fix the problem.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Carriage jam problem/1280 printer

If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.

Follow the steps for fix HP Printer Carriage Jam

  • Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
  • Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
  • Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

HP deskjet 1280 paper jam

Yes you can manually remove the paper. It can be pulled out from the feed area (pulled out backwards).
To clear the jam status....
Take the back cover off, there is a reset switch in the top left hand lock hole. Push a pen (or similar) into this hole, the switch will give slightly and be the same depth as the others.

put the cover back on, all should be well

HP DESKJET 1280

I had this problem too and found that the rear cover (the one that you remove to clear a paper jam) was not correctly fitted and locked. After resetting the vover and fully locking it worked! Try it.

perhaps this needs to be sent in from rear feed tray? usually higher stock papers won't bend as readily.

Paper jam

Carefully pull it out. Try not to rip the paper, because you may get some stuck inside. It may be necessary to open the printer up and even remove part of the cover to get it all out.
