Morning, i was using my hp deskjet 1280 printer last night and a paper got jammed, i succeded in removing the paper with care but when i tried to put the printer back on, it refused to come on, what happens is that when you switch on the sorce of power and switch it back on and press the printer on botton, the indicator for on comes on but immediately goes off again, however the ink indicator shows light when i press it or hold down the button, what can i do to solve this, urgent
Maybe the back door (for removing paper jams) is not closed. Rotating door knob needs to be pushed to the end - even if it seems to be hard, there is some more space to the end. Printer won't work if the back door is open.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Actually you can manually remove the paper from the printer. It can be pulled out from the feed area.
And to clear the paper jam message: You have to take the back cover off, there is a reset switch in the top left hand
lock hole. Use an object to push in the pin hole. After that put back the cover on. This should help you fix the problem.
If you are getting a 'carriage jam' error as soon as you turn on your printer with no tasks in progress, then check for any piece of paper stuck in the carriage. Remove the paper carefully. If the paper tears, part of it might remain inside the paper path and damage the product.
Follow the steps for fix HP Printer Carriage Jam
Turn off the printer and open it to see where the paper is stuck.
Manually move the carriage toward the opposite side.
Check the paper path and remove any piece of paper or any other object that is stuck in the path.
Yes you can manually remove the paper. It can be pulled out from the feed area (pulled out backwards).
To clear the jam status....
Take the back cover off, there is a reset switch in the top left hand lock hole. Push a pen (or similar) into this hole, the switch will give slightly and be the same depth as the others.
I have a HP Deskjet 3940 printer. And similarly to this problem here I had a paper jam that would not clear, despite removing all the paper that was stuck in it, and following all 4 steps stated on the HP website. Such as taking the back cover off and blowing dust away and turning it off and on, etc.
None of these steps worked for me and consequently I couldnt get any new jobs to print - kept saying 'paper jam'. I was about to head down the shop to buy a new printer when i tried one last thing, which HAS fixed the problem!
I put in a large stack of paper onto the feeder. and then pushed it forcefully in and out repeatedly. To my amazement this has solved the paper jam. As a very last resort, might be worth trying this?
