They shouldn't. All the netbooks are great if your doing stuff in MS Office and using it for the internet but if you need a dvd drive to install software then thats where the issue usually is or if you need to try and fix a faulty system you have no way of installing software from a cd without the drive.

My suggestion is there shouldn't be a preference.

Can you print with this netbook

Several companies make small, ultra-portable 9-10 inch "netbooks" (ASUS, Gateway, Dell, etc) which all run on conventional Operating Systems (like MS Windows) which like any other large or small PC will support printing providing you download into it the software "drivers" associated with the printer(s) you want your netbook to be able to print to. After you do this, any netbook should be able to print to pretty much any conventional printer, just like any PC.

How to restore my dell 15.6 netbook

You don't necessarily have to wipe a computer to fix a virus (not usually anyway) try for the best malware scanner and/or avg for a great antivirus scanner. If you do need to wipe it then you will either need a Dell restore CD or Dell may have a hidden partition that you can get to, in order to do a restore. Check the website for your make and model of netbook for more info.

My inspiron 1018 won't boot. i need to reinstall or repair my software. it does not have a cd drive. please advice action.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 series of netbooks come with recovery software that can restore your netbook's original factory settings. Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbooks with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 can be recovered to the factory settings using a recovery partition on the hard drive.
Windows Vista or 7
Turn on or restart your Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook. Press the "F8" key repeatedly when the "Dell" logo appears on the screen to be redirected to the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
Highlight "Repair Your Computer," and then press "Enter."
Highlight the language layout you want to use for your keyboard and click "Next." Enter your username and password if prompted. Click "OK."
Click "Dell Factory Image Restore," and then click "Next." The recovery software on some Dell Mini systems may require you to click "Dell Factory Tools" followed by "Dell Factory Image Restore" and "Next."
Click "Next" if you understand the netbook will be restored to its original factory settings. The recovery process will begin.
Click "Finish" when a message appears saying the recovery is complete. The netbook will restart and boot up to the Windows Vista or Windows 7 set-up screen, where you can begin personalizing your netbook.

Windows XP Recovery
Turn on the computer. Press the "Ctrl" and "F11" keys at the same time while the computer is booting up to access the recovery software.
Click "Restore."
Click "Confirm" to begin the recovery process, which shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes.
Click "Finish" to restart the computer and finalize the installation. Click "Yes" to restart the netbook again. The computer will boot up to the Windows XP setup screen

Here is a link which will take you to the site which will allow you to download a ZIP file with a WEB PAGE type service manual for your 1018, after a 45 second wait. (They want you to sign up for premium service but NOT NEEDED) Click again after wait?
After download, open the ZIP file and copy all contents to a new folder. Double click the Contents.html file to open in a web browser, then use the built in shortcuts to navigate the manual.

Well I am looking to buy a new netbook but I just can't seem to find what I need. 1. 10.2" screen 2. weights less than 1.2KG 3. costs up to $300 4. needs a good graphics card 5....

You absolutely WILL NOT find a netbook with a good graphics card. There are USB graphics cards but unfortunately USB does not have a fast enough transfer speed to make anything more interesting than looking at pictures, or possibly watching movies intolerable. It truly depends on what you will be using the netbook for as to what kind of specs you will want on it.
If you have windows 7, ensure you have at least 2 gigs of ram, maybe three. Anything more will be excessive, and anything less will give you mediocre performance. The problem is netbooks are so small, that anything more than e-mail, document typing, solitaire, and pictures is truly going to make the machine lag. They can't put powerful hardware in them because there just isn't enough airflow, and they need to keep them lightweight.
If you are looking for something to play games on, you are looking at something considerably more expensive than a netbook, and are instead looking at a thin laptop. Those however will not only cost you a pretty penny, but will still not be able to handle the most intricate pieces of software.
As far as brand's, I have always enjoyed Asus and MSI for their netbooks and laptops. That is just a preference however, and everything will change according to preference depending on the beholder.

I have followed all the instructions on how to connect the wireless router to my Sylvania Netbook and I am still unable to access the internet, can you give me the solution to this problem.

Had the same problem with my Sylvania Netbook I purchased last week. Last night, I stopped by CVS that received a shipment early in the afternoon and purchased another. Powered on to wifi at first and it would not connect on internet. Clicked on little tv, pulled up my preferred connection and entered Network key. Shut down and restarted and it connected onto google!

My original Sylvania Netbook had the same settings in place and still would not connect - so I am returning it today for a refund - it was defective.

Dell Inspirion mini 10v XP gets graphic error (Directx 9.0C) then running Sims 2.

The graphics chipset in a Dell mini is not capable of running Sims 2. It requires far more power than you are going to get from a Netbook. Even some standard Laptops would be hard pressed to run Sims 2.

Netbooks are for email and web browsing, and that is about it. You'd be lucky to run even a simple Flash-based game on a netbook. Sorry...
