Question about Gateway IEEE 1394 FireWire PCI Card with Pinnacle Instant Video Album (1532678)

1 Answer

I just reloaded my os and now my IEEE 1394 driver will not install properly. When I go into device maniger it shows a conflict, I right click on update driver and it goes through all the steps and then says there was a problem installing and to click on finish. Also it does the same thing when I hook up my USB optical mouse. Any ideas out there? Thanks Jim

Take out the card from its current slot and insert it back in another free PCI slot. This should solve the conflict issue.

How can i connect my camera to my pc because my windows is saying unknown device?

Most MiniDV camera have USB and Firewire port.
USB is used to transfer from SDCard to PC.
While FireWire (also called IEEE 1394) is used for video transfer into computer. All the drivers needed are part of windows OS (IEEE 1394).
Invariably today's laptops and yester-years desktops do NOT have firewire inbuilt. The only thing you are going to need is a cable and firewire card (IEEE 1394) If you computer does not have one.

Moreover, you will need a capture software. You have Windows movie maker, But its not going to do justice to the camera, better off getting a good editor, such as Adobe Premiere, or Sony Vegas, the software is about the best you can get but not easy to use, and takes some time to get to know, both offer 30 day trials.

There is a Sony tutorial page for downloading video to computer at THIS LINK

You will need to select Windows as the operating system, then your camera type, then select the type of connection. You are strongly recommended to use i.Link (which everyone else calls Firewire).

There is Sony software called Picture Motion Browser that you can download (you will need the number from your original CD).

If none of that helps, perhaps the driver for the Firewire (IEEE 1394) port on the computer needs to be reinstalled. You can view this driver (if it is installed) by opening the control panel\system\hardware\device manager and looking for IEEE 1394. It should say if there is a problem or if it is working. You can force it to reinstall at this point.

FANTOM Titanium TFDF12072 120GB 7200 RPM External Hard Drive not recognized any more.

wow...so ..first to check is the bus...if you use it on a usb ...probably it is a lack of driver or the computer just messed the driver ...so ...plug it ..and run the add new hardware feature from the control panel to see if it founds it ...choose already added and check it in the list ..
Also take a look into the device manager (right clck on my computer /properties../hardware ....Here you should be able to see t in the list ...if not .., right click on computer and choose to scan for hardware changes....this will scan for devices and show you the device even if it is not installed..
also ..it may be using a raid driver that it is not installed on your computer cause you didn't used it ..do ..go to bios..default the system by selecting optimal factory defaults ..and after that save changes by pressing F10..
restart and insert the motherboard drivers disk and install the raid driver from the list ..(I sow that some of them are on Ieee 1394 fire-wire...so ..installing a driver for the IEEE 1394 bus can be a option you have to get in mind..Just search for it on the motherboard manufactirer site...but it is built in windows since Xp..and defaulting the system ..probably make it functional..if it is the case..
if nothing works...open it and check the power supplies for each unit in part if it is multiple (hdd) and be sure they are plugged well and functional ...You should hear them work ..

Ieee 1394 bus host controller driver missing in HP

Such are updates! Many have experienced this.

There is a way to back step the drivers IF you can see the device, but it sounds like you can't see the device period..

If you have a restore point on your computer (it is in PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEMTOOLS/RESTORE)
You can back step the computer if you or an automatic system restore point has been created.

Otherwise, go to the HP site and downlad and install the needed driver.

What dose the icons mean on front panel what is the little square hole for next to the mike connection

hello, it is most likely a firewire connection.
FireWire, originally created by Apple and later standardized as IEEE-1394, actually preceded USB and had similar goals. The difference is that IEEE-1394 was originally intended for devices working with lots more data -- things like camcorders, DVD players and digital audio equipment. IEEE-1394 and USB share a number of characteristics and differ in some important ways. Here's a summary:
  • Like USB, IEEE-1394 is a serial bus that uses twisted-pair wiring to move data around.
  • However, while USB is limited to 12 megabits per second, IEEE-1394 currently handles up to 400 megabits per second.
  • USB can handle 127 devices per bus, while IEEE-1394 handles 63.
  • Both USB and IEEE-1394 support the concept of a isochronous device -- a device that needs a certain amount of bandwidth for streaming data. This mode is perfect for streaming audio and video data.
  • Both USB and IEEE-1394 allow you to plug and unplug devices at any time.
hope this helps,

regards

Dell Optiplex GX620 will not recognize firewire controller card

1394 drivers should be native to XP, you may be able to correct this by running an SFC scan

Take out the IEEE1394 card
Insert your Windows CD (if you do not have it order a backup from dell)
Exit out of 'install screen'
click Start
click Run
type 'sfc /scannow'
press enter
you should see a progress bar, when finished restart the computer

this compared critical windows files on harddrive vs CD, and replaces missing and corrupt files

IEEE1394 host controller cannot start code10

Yes you can update the driver yourself and it does sound like it is a driver problem. In device manager right click on your device and click on Install Driver. That will take care of the problem. But, you need a wireless router, the DHCP server of your ISP will not issue an IP address to a host only a router. The router has an IP address that is broadcast and issues private addresses for the host computers.

Don't forget to rate this solution.

Firewire/USB 2.0 both dont work..

Plug in the device( kmake sure hard drive is connected inside) Go to computer management(right click on my computer and select manage) on the left pane select disk management on the right pane you'll see the drives(If a screen pops up saying about initialize disks, then proceed with that) in the right pane if you see any unallocated volumes(big black box, full black) with the same size of your disks then you can right click on em and create a partition! The Create partition comes up and give you options to format and everything, after that completes you'll see the drive in My computer! If you don't see the unallocated drive, then go oer the drive and account for all of em, if there an extra one without a drive letter then that could be your disk! If you have any problems or this isn't the problem, please let me know! regards, babb

My Camcorder Is Not Detected By The IEEE Card.

1. CHECK CAMCORDER CONNECTIONS AND SETTINGS. 1. The DV Camcorder is turned on and connected by the power adapter (not battery) 2. The Camcorder is in Play Mode. 3. The IEEE 1394 cable is properly connected from you camcorder to the IEEE 1394 card. If you have checked these steps and the camcorder is still not detected, then the camcorder driver is most likely not loaded. 2. CHECK DEVICE MANAGER TO VERIFY THAT CAMCORDER DRIVER IS LOADED. 1. Go to Device Manager by clicking on Programs > Settings > Control Panel > System. (In Windows 2000 you have the additional steps of clicking on Hardware > Device Manager). 2. Under the device heading called Imaging Devices, you should see a device called "Samsung DV Camera or DV Camcorder". If you have an exclamation point "!" on this device, highlight the device by clicking on it and then click the Remove and Refresh buttons for Windows 98SE and ME. For Windows 2000, click on the uninstall icon, then click on the scan for new hardware icon. Even if the camcorder device does not have an exclamation point "!" on it, you can remove it and reload it. With Windows ME and Windows 2000, and Windows XP, the 1394 camcorder driver is built into the operating system by Microsoft and is already loaded on your system. With Windows 98SE the files are located on the 98SE CD in the Win98 folder. If the device is not listed, please check all of items in step #1 above. If it continues to be a problem, there may be a problem with the: 1. Camcorders firewire port 2. 1394 cable 3. The 1394 host controller card Samsung does not support Firewire Components. You must consult the manufacturer of your Firewire product(s).
