SOURCE: while watching tv the screen

The main board is not working properly (I assume you know from the sound that the channel won't change). This may be the result of a failure in the board itself, or more likely, a bad output from the power supply. Check the power supply for bulging or leaking electrolytic capacitors such as those shown below:

Unless the capacitor is leaking, this is not a 100% test, but it's a good start. Sometimes a capacitor will fail with no externally visible evidence; you need an oscilloscope or at least a voltmeter to find these. A discolored plastic wrap on the capacitor indicates probable overheating, which is another sign of failure.

Sometimes a power supply will have a shorted diode, but this usually shuts down everything either by blowing a fuse or tripping fault protection circuitry in one of the voltage regulators.

My Westinghouse 36 inch TV has picture and sound when I turn it on but when I change channels, the picture disappears and I have only sound. The picture comes back if you turn the TV off and back on but...

Hello, it sounds like your inverter board is goin out on the set, when you change channels if you notice on almost any TV the screen goes dark and the new channel appears, it sounds like you are not getting enough power out of the inverter board to power up the backlight enough to come on. This is why the sound remains because everything else works fine and the sound is connected to the main board.

We have sound but no picture on Phillips flatscreen television

Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen when you have sound, look very close, can you see a video image? If so the inverter is probably bad.
Let me know and I will assist further.

Which caps on which boards as that sounds like a issue with the signal and FMT PCB. The v26 chassis like yours has problems with bad caps on the DM, Signal, FMT and the PWB and terminal

The set you have has a bad tuner assembly. At this point most likely you would be better off getting a new TV set. Good Luck

Hi Sounds to me like the Tuner Module went out, this is something a qualified technician would have to fix.
