LG Dishwasher Model LD-4120M Error 0E

Hi, I keep getting an error OE on my LG Dishwasher which says in the manual that the drain hose is kinked or the filter is clogged. I've checked both and the hose is definitely not kinked and the filter has nothing in it either.

Does anyone know what else i could do or check?
Thanks

OE error message appears even though hose is not blocked or kinked

Had the same problem on a LG LDS5811BB, same error code, OE. Checked the drain line even blew air thru it to make sure it was clear. I ended up taking the d/w out completely and taking the bottom cover off. took the 3 screws out of the drain pump and found a plastic bread tie, not the twisty ones the square plastic ones in there. Took it out and it works with no problems. If you have water in the d/w it will drain out of the door when you tip it over.

exactly the same problem. it was for the first year. now OE, i have checked hose and all filters and spray arm as it would seem that dirty water gets thrown on them at the end and then baked on.

My dishwasher showed the 0E code and there is grease spewing out of it. Does anyone know why?

  • Neil Mengel Aug 17, 2013

I checked the filter, pump etc and all were clear. Removed rh side cover. There is a clear plastic trap before the drain goes out. Unscrew the vent inside the dishwasher to remove. It had rice in it. Cleaned it out-no problems!

LG 2050 error 0E error. - You may not want to believe this but it is true!!
My dishwasher has failed with 0E error 5 times now - it has cost me R350 each time - the problem IS NOT necessarily a blocked drain hose or the drain pump it could be the thermostat micro switch!!! the thermostat is located at the rear of the right bottom side of the dishwasher(held by oval nylon plastic housing). Turn the machine off. remove the right side panel.(remove top {2screws in lid at back}, remove right panel screws {2 behind door, 3 bottom back panel, 2 behind panel below door {pull panel out from top [no screws pushes in & out of place]}. Locate oval nylon/plastic shape located as above - micro-switch is in the middle (3 wire connectors in 1 block) thermostat is 2 connectors ( 1 each side of micro-switch). use screwdriver to push thermostat back into the nylon housing on both sides (it has worked its way out a bit over time and stops the micro-switch working). Reassemble and dishwasher starts to work again!!!!
Good Luck - Alan

I had the same endless problem and finaly put a cleaning product through with heaps of restarts and now the machine works perfectly. So anyone out there with the OE error should try this inexpensive solution. If it does not work you have not lost much. You may need to restart several times during the process and is a great pain but maybe it will solve your problem .

The most common cause of an OE error code on a modern LG dishwasher is:
1. Blocked drain hose
2. Obstruction in the sump area (beneath the filter, which needs to be removed to check for onstruction)
3. Failing drain motor.
else you need to REPLACE THE PCB POWER CONTROL BOARD
Good Luck!!!

Sometimes the wiring behind the front panel becomes "stuck" to the sound deadening material. After many openings and closings, the wire can break. This happened to me. It was a gray wire which had stretched and broken.
What I did to fix it was to strip and re-connect he wire, and twist a wire nut on the bare end. I then placed some plastic behind the wire bundle so that it wouldn't stick again.
Messages to LG about the problem went unanswered.

Hi Mickey, I had a better deal - LG answered me like I was a kid. They said - have it repaired or raplace it!! Whauw - such luck! Eventually I fixed it for 10c. A resistor went bust on the controller board. I pried open the goo they put on there and replaced the resistor with similar.

OE means drain hose is blocked or somthing wrong with the pump. personally i say if you have an LG get rid of it and get a decent dishwasher like a Fisher & Paykel , a Bosch or best of all an Asko. LG and samsung will just keep costing you more money . - Anon Salesman

I have LG Direct Drive. I had the OE error code, just took the filters out and washed them and it worked fine, am thinking that it must be extremely sensitive to fine grease on the filter. My washer is only 2 weeks old. I opened the side casing and squeezed the pipes, blew air in the lines... no luck. Washed the filters and hey presto... wife off the back.

My GREY wire was broken also!!! Like it was cut - I think there's a manufacturing defect here. Yes, stuck in the tar-like deadening material and perhaps routed behind and over other wires - couldn't tell it was broken! Like a perfect cut thru thin insulation and all. Tip for others: Remove the 14 screws holding on the front cover and find the grey wire just above the door hinge. You do not need to even remove the machine.

Remove right side cover. There is a clear trap for the drain. Unscrew vent inside dishwasher to remove. Cleaned out food which was blocking one-way valve. Problem solved!

After replacing the main pump, I got the same fault code. I found that the heater element got pulled out while disconnecting the connectors. It is located on the right hand side down at the bottom of the dishwasher.I pushed it in all the way to the earth terminal and the fault cleared.

I had the same OE error, tried everything with the drain hose to remove blockage, shaking, blowing it out with air, including letting CLR soak in the bottom of the unit. (Bad idea DO NOT USE CLR) Had a repair man in GP, AB. come and rip the dishwasher apart, tell me I was using too much soap, there was nothing wrong with the unit except the CLR wrecked all the seals in the lower filter and LG didn't have replacement seals, so the cost to replace pump ***. was $600, he charged me $140. I got Orings from a hydraulic shop (free) and made new better seals, cleaned the filter assembly, installed the seals myself, tried the dishwasher and still got the OE error, was reading mickey42do's problem above, pulled the front panel off and lone behold the grey wire was broken, exact same problem, fixed the wire, installed some plastic and bingo bango we are up and running. Good job Mickey42do!!!

What do i do to fix error code OE on my LG dishwasher

Based on what it mentioned on the LG website it is an error indicating a drainage error. The solution might be to clean the drain filters at the base, check drain hose under kitchen sink and behind dishwasher for kinks or blockages. On make sure the kitchen sink drain is not blocked. Worst scenario is a clogged drain pump. you will have to provide the model number for any further analysis.

Hi

OE in your dishwasher is a drain error and dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. If the issue returns after cleaning then the drain pump assembly should be replaced. Keeps stopping and showing OE

Hi tpearsgolf,

The "OE" error code you are seeing, means "Outlet Error"

The drain pump is either clogged, or the outlet hose has been kinked.
- Inspect the Drainage hose at the back for kinks. - If any, straighten the hose
- Open the unit, and at the bottom sump check the small drain pump area for any foreign object that may be obstructing it. You can remove the filter, as well as the metalish sieve underneath it, check the sump underneath near the drainage holes, make sure nothing is obstructing the flow out of the machine from there.

If not successful, you will need to replace the Drain Pump.

Kind Regards :-)

Our dishwasher keeps stopping its cycle and saying 'OE' It is LG - LD/141ST1

the 'OE' code means clogged or kinked drain line. You will need to pull the dishwasher and disconnect the drain hose from both ends and flush out debris at the sink. Be sure the hose isn't kinked.
