I am wondering if there is a digital body that will fit my Minolta 7000 AF lenses.
I have been using my Minolta 7000 for many years and want to upgrade to digital instead of 35mm. As i have many lenses it would make sence to just replace the body and use the lenses i have
Can someone please help me to find a body that is suitable
I used the Minolta 7000 for several years, and had several lenses to go with it. I upgraded the body to Minilta 700si. It worked well, I still have that camera set.
Then I realized that if I add the KonicaMinolta 7D, digital SLR body I would get the benefit of film as well as digital photography. It worked and have two bodies, 700si and 7D, and the lens set which fits and works on both.
However, in 2006 SONY had bought over KonicaMinolta and the SONY digital SLR camera body range should be able to use the old Minolta SLR lenses.
Pls source the SONY digital SLR Alpha range. It should work with your old Minolta lenses.
The Konica-Minolta 5d, and 7d, both discontinued but available used on
ebay and other places will work with your AF lenses, as well as all the
sony alpha camera bodies. KM sold their camera business to sony, and
most of the whole maxuum/alpha/dynax group of engineers went with the
sale to Sony. I had a 7000, and an 8000i, and all my lenses are quite happy on the 7D I picked up a few months ago on ebay.

Minolta had two lens mounts. One for manual focus SLR film cameras and one for Auto Focus SLR Maxxum film and digital SLR cameras. Sony uses Minolta Maxxum lens mount. If the Sigma 400 f5.6 lens was made for Minolta X-700 series, XG, series, XD series, SRT series, then it will not fit on your camera.
It would really depend on the mount the previous lens has versus the mount on the new body. The advantage is that majority of the time you can utilize lenses on different bodies of slr cameras, as long as you stay within the same manufacturer.
You should have no problem, if they are maxuum af. The others should work too- I have an Alpha 100. The alpha 100 works great. I used to run my own photography business, and searched around for quite a while before I found the alpha. There is an adapter ring that i bought, that makes it possible for me to use my favorite old pentax screw mount 135mm f1.6, or any other screw mount, on my alpha 100.
The only drawback I found was you cannot use any other flash(at this time) than the onboard one-or the sony only flashes-which are a little pricey. Different size hot shoe is the reason. I haven't found an adapter yet-but I'm sure someone will make one. The alpha doen't have a real time display- or asa of 3200. I'm hopeing for a firmware update/upgrade to correct this. BUT the newer models with a higher than a100 number do have realtime lcd, and do go to asa3200. And they use either sony mem.stick or CF cards happy shooting
