Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My Acer laptop asks me for the password to the Bios. "Enter CURRENT Password", received it from the store just today, and that message showed up after a simple reboot. What to do?

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I assume I have to install the software on the computer in question?

But the request for the BIOS password comes immediately after boot, and prevents me to do any actions. How would I install this software on the laptop?

    Thanks for the reply!

I'll try to your tip #2.

I found the BIOS files on a external site, as my laptop model were not listed.

I downloaded the file, which was composed with ONE folder, and TWO under folders. I copied this folder directly to a USB stick and followed your instructions, without luck. As the laptop never shuts down itself. (And seemingly never reads the files.)

The read me file in the folder says as follow: "DOS: Run "Flash.BAT" batch file to flash BIOS in pure DOS environment. Windows x86/x64: Run "Insyde_Winflash.exe" to flash BIOS in Windows x86/x64 environment."

Which of the two folders shall I use? And can the files be read while in the folder?

    Thanks for the help!

    Ok! I see!

Here are two more tips and tricks that might help you out.

Resetting Bios Password using hardware: (Do it at Your Own Risk)

    Remove cover (Lower side).

Find (BIOS) battery on the far right hand of the board..

Take a _small_ flat screwdriver and contact the two leads from the battery. power on, power off..

    Bios will be reset.

this works for passwords and etc.. resets to default configuration. the battery in acer aspire is very visible has a blue ring of plastic or rubber around it. follow the leads (very short) and short the circuit.

    Resetting BIOS (on Software End)

Seach and download the BIOS files of your machine's model.(Simply Enter your model and download BIOS update files)

Unzip and copy all these files to any removable media like Write able CD, USB or something like that.

    Disconnect battery and Ac adapter

Connect USB Floppy drive or a USB Flash Drive or insert a Cd(whichever u choose).

Press [Fn]+[Esc] and plug In the Ac Power adapter, and then press Power button.

Release the buttons. Notebook should read the crisis disk. There will be no sounds, no beeps. It took about 2-3 minutes and notebook powered down itself.

Then plug in the battery simply power it on.

That’s all. Now normal screen appears and acer is alive.

Hope this will help you out. And sorry for late reply.

    Best Of luck.

Enter current password on boot on acer aspire 5253g

If the pc doesn't have a BIOS password then:
1.- look at the error messages on the blue screen,
2.- the blue screen shows errors when a driver is bad or not the right one for the hardware or the OS is corrupted.
3.- try to boot using safe mode.
4.- after the logo and right after it shows the F2/F10/F12 key start tapping the F8 continuosly. If your here a beep stop tapping.

I am using Acer travelmate 4052 model for past 6 years. I used password for booting system. Today I tried to remove my BIOS password using BIOS setting. System asked me current password. So I entered the...

Try "1" or "/" or "A" or some messy combination of keys because it seems like you probably had a typo during setting the new password. Try "Spacebar" try "]" or "[" etc for a password, if you can figure it out you can reset it to nothing again just be careful. Otherwise research acer travelmate bios password removal. Also that computer is kind of old, so if there's nothing on it of importance, I'd replace it. If you need data try your friendly computer shop.

How would i reset my bios password for a 5542 acer aspire notebook?

Assuming you set the password, go to the BIOS, enter your current password, then go to the password tab and put in a new one.

If you forgot your password and if you have the receipt, a local non-big-box store could probably reset it.

BIOS password remove alternatives:

1. Reset Password BIOS via Backdoor BIOS Password.
2. Reset Password BIOS via Software.
3. Reset Password BIOS via hardware.
4. Reset Password BIOS via default manufacturers.

OK, here is my guide to Remove Acer Bios password computer via Software. This has been done on testing machine Laptop Acer Aspire 3620/ Travel Mate 2420. Anyway, I'm not sure it will work on every Acer PC/Laptop so just consider to do at your own risk, I’m not responsible for any damages caused by this guide.

As we know most of Acer computer (Laptop & Desktop) allow us to setup BIOS in Microsoft Windows (9x/XP/Vista) environment. Great, this is the powerful that help us to remove the BIOS password cuz all we know if we enter Setup Utility at the boot time we have only three times of filling the password and if all wrong then the system will halt.
The program helps us to enter Acer BIOS setup in Microsoft Windows is “Acer eSettings Management” which comes with the CD when we buy Acer PC/Laptop. If you lost the CD then just come to Acer website to download the program.

Asking a BIOS "Enter CURRENT Password".

Its very simple. You can reset it by removing the CMOS battery and then putting it back in. You will have to remove the back panel of the laptop to get to it. This is what a CMOS battery looks like http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000239.htm

How to get password from hdd password error code acer aspire 4315

Is the error message coming before bios starts to load XP from harddisk, or after?

If it is coming after XP starts then it may be driver issue.

If it is coming before XP, then it may be a question of incorrect bios for the hardware in your laptop.

Bios reset

As another option you could try resetting the jumper. Some boards save the password regardless unless the reset the BIOS by using the resetting jumper. Refer to the motherboard's manual for further information on how to do this.
