I have a hoover freespace pet bagless washable filters, i have cleaned out everything, and checked for blockages in the pipe but the red light for empty bag is consistantly on and suction is poor, please help hoover is only about 6 months old!!!!!
ALTHOUGH MOST FILTERS SAY WASHABLE THEY DO STILL NEED TO BE REPLACE AS WASHING THEM SHRINKS THE FILTER AND EVENTUALLY CLOSES THE AIRWAYS. WHICH ALSO IF NOT REPLACE WILL OVER HEAT MOTOR IN MACHINE AND CAUSE MOTOR FAILURE.

Check all the pipes, there could be something stuck in them which hasn't come out.
Also check the base of the vacuum if there is something stuck in the base.
Lastly check if there are any leaks in the pipes.
Also check the suction without using the handle, by pulling the pipe in your hand and see if it has more suction.
You could check the motor brushes, if they are worn and check for loose wire connections. Another possibility is that there may be a break in the lead, plug it in and shake the lead, if it starts and stops you have probably found your problem with a broken lead.
Hello, I too have a problem with a bad smell coming from my henry hound hoover, but thats probely because i haven't used a hoover bag. I took the cloth filter out, banged all the dust off, then sprayed it with 'RugDoctor' pet stain remover for carpets and upholstery. It still smells a bit, but not half as bad as befor. I have now ordered a reusable, zipable, washable cloth hoover bag especially made for Henry's. It cost £8.80 from ebay with free postage. Hope this helps Nikki.
Place handle in low position and turn cleaner over so bottom side is up. Remove the 4 screws in bottom plate and lift off.
Look on the left side of the agitator brush. You should see the belt there. Remove agitator brush roll and used belt.
With lettering on outside of belt, slide new belt over motor pulley.
Insert agitator though belt and place belt in belt guide on agitator.
Grasp agitator firmly and fit it onto position by first sliding end opposite the belt into the rectangular slot on side of cleaner.Pull other side of agitator into place
Turn agitator making sure belt is not pinched between agitator and agitator shield.
If this does not take care of your problem, then check your filters for dirt and your entire vacuum for blockages. Both filters do come out. If you can't get a new filter right away you can gently clean the paper filter and remove a lot of dirt. (I recommend outside)! The other filter is washable.
Make sure it is well dried before replacing.
if you take out the dirt cup at the top there should be a half moon orange that releases. inside of this half moon is a washable filter. rinse with warm water and let it dry completly before putting back into the machine. this should restore your suction. hope this helps.
