It sounds like a water delivery problem. If water pressure is ok from the hose to the back of the machine, and won't fill the machine it's most likely the water inlet valve is faulty (or doesn't have power to it)...Not a big job. but probably wise to get a tech....Good luck Nomess

Cycle starts, but does not fill with water

When I start a new cycle, I first hear the pump run to empty out all remaining water, and after that I hear the motor run for the regular washing cycle, but there is no water in the dishwasher. After a few minutes, the cycle stops, and the washer claims the dishes are 'clean'. When I try starting a new cycle over and over again, about one in 20 times, the cycle will run normally with water. But then the next time, the problem starts all over again. Once a cycle starts correctly, everything works fine, including the rinsing.

Washer wont pump water unless in spin cycle

it is not supposed to pump water unless it is in the spin cycle. On most topload washers the motor turns one way for the agitate cycle and then the motor reverses during the spin/rinse cycle which in turn reverses the pump and causes it to pump the water out.

If all else fails, replace motor control board, and/or motor.

Shreiking spin in rinse cycle

Your pump is probably what's causing the noise . Usually the bearing starting to go out , causing the pump to freeze up , begins with this noise .
