Question about HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Toner cartridege my printer is hp psc 1315xi. I refilled the toner cartridges in Costco. After I reinstalled the toner, the printer kept on blinking a red light ''check the cartridge (E)''. P'se let me know what to do. Thank you.

You have to rip the tape off the new cartridge, mine was red, or else it will give you this error message. I did the same thing the first time

That is not true using a refilled Inkjet will not harm your print because the print head is the only thing that would be affected and the print head is apart of the Inkjet.

Make sure that use only the HP genuine cartridges. If u uses the refillled cartridges it will damage your printer.

Refilled 940 Cartridege At Costco

The HP 940 style cartridges have an inherent design issue that they collect air inside the black rubber pump. When enough air gets inside the black rubber cartridge pump they get soft/spongy - they must be firm (try pressing on it). The printer presses on the cartridge pump with a foot (gray plastic pad back inside the cartridge compartment) when it wants more ink to the printhead. If it presses and doesn\'t feel enough electrical resistance it thinks the cartridge is empty and errors "empty".

When a cartridge is truly empty, the black rubber pump will **** up inside itself, thus the foot does not feel any resistance. The only way to fix this is by occasionally remove the excess air from the cartridge pump. We recommend the AdaptiveInk Cartridge and Printhead Re-priming Kit. Yes, the Printheads also have an inherent design issue where they collect the air that is pushed from the cartridges. Excess air inside the printhead is what causes the majority of print quality issues you have when printing and this kit resolves this issue very well.

Why does my hp photosmart C4250 all in one printer keep texting that my color ink cartridge is missing. It is not missing. I recently replaced it. This action is causing my printer not to print.


hello, i've had a few of these in the shop with same type problem, after trying many cartridges, the only thing i came up with, some of these cartridges that are xl's, they seem to fail more, but normally, brand new hp branded cartridges work, the refills are a hit and miss, and ones refilled at costco seem to fail almost as soon as put in.

Go back to Costco, tell them the cartridge doesn't work now they've refilled it and request your money back.

Put the refund to a propriety HP cartridge.

I've had this issue. not with refills but with generic copies, some work, some don't work. That's getting towards what HP wanted when they started chipping their cartridges.

Refill toner for different cartridge is different? m using a samsung scx 4824fn which is using a MLT-D209L cartridge and i can't find the toner for my model at my place..so can i jz refill the cartridge...


Yes there is a difference!! do not refill your cartridege.. melting points and fuser temps vary between printers and toners.. use the correct supply! O.E.M or aftermarket..

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridges that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

i gotta know, if itz printing or not..if so..
dis is quite common problem..don't panic..
did u changed / replaced the cartridge with original spare or refilled it..
this kind of problem often follows with an unbranded cartridge change and or refilling..!!
least chance of the defective cartridge itself causing such problem..!!
however always try to use genuine refill packs/toner..
..contact ur system admin/vendor....

Sounds like the printer thinks the cartridge is empty. Old PSC units had a 3 cartridge memory - you kept 3 cartridges and cycled them to trick the printer into thinking it had just received a brand new cartridge, rather than a refilled one.
