Question about Google Chrome

2 Answers

Running updated Windows XP. Switched from Firefox to Chrome browser. Downloaded Chrome and deleted Firefox. Chrome would not install in regular mode because it could not find an internet connection. Chrome Error 102 (net::ERR Connection Refused). Installed MS Explorer with same result and Error HTTP port 80, HTTPS port 443 and FTP 21 being blocked. Put in safe mode and I can install and connect to internet with Chrome and Explorer. In standard/regular startup mode I can update other programs, get email, etc..., but since removing Firefox I cannot connect to the internet with a browser unless in safe mode. After running chrome and explorer in safe mode I restarted/booted-up in standard mode and turned off the miscrosoft firewall and mirosoft antivirus software. Chrome and Explorer will not connect to internet. I have run Tune-Up, Spybot, Ad-ware, etc... Help. Mark

This is a problem related to a Norton security software that you might have on your computer awhile , so the best way to correct the problem is to download Norton removal tool and then after that run the software and that should do it.

Hi,
One quick solution is to try restoring your PC.
Go to Start->All Programms-> Accessories->System Tools-> System Restore.
Select a date that was before you deleted Firefox and click restore. The computer will be restored to that date reverting any changes you made to software/drivers. No files or emails will be deleted.

Regards,
nicolasiac

My problem is in internet explorer 8 windows xp laptop gateway computer the restore down or maximize tab(the middle tab) on the upper right corner of windows dissappears and the page crashes and/or...

Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and therefore isn't secure. I'd recommend considering purchasing a new computer, as they start out in the $200-500 range.

Alternatively, you could look into using a modern Linux operating system, instead of Windows XP on your current computer. An easy to use, free distribution is called Ubuntu and can be downloaded from here. https://www.ubuntu.com/
NOTE: Before installing, back up your files and settings.

To solve your browser problem only, you might see if you can get an alternative browser. Here are a few, but I'm not sure if any are still able to run on Windows XP:

Mozilla Firefox Browser
Download Firefox Free Web Browser

Opera Browser
Opera browser The fast safe web browser Download free

Google Chrome Browser
Google Chrome

Partical incompatability-messed up whole computer-freezes,internet messed up-wont let me delete program out-message keeps appearing!!!

I, myself have had nothing but problems when I downloaded Internet Explorer 9! I got rid of it. The best way to get rid of IE 9 once you have downloaded it is to go to Windows Update, click " view update history", click "Installed Updates" and once they all appear, find Windows Internet Explorer 9 ( Under Microsoft Windows, which is below Microsoft Visual C & Microsoft Silver-light 1, among others ) and uninstall it! It is quite very simple and IS the only way to get back to IE 8 ( If that is what you had previously, otherwise it will default to IE 7. BTW, very easy to re-install IE 8! ). For some reason, once you start using Google Chrome browser, it is best to simply avoid Internet Explorer! I use Google Chrome & love it! I also use Mozilla Firefox! Sometimes we must use Windows IE since it is the browser which came with the computer. But I would avoid IE 9 and just not download it again once you are rid of it! No matter how much Windows/Microsoft tells you that you need to download it! Hope you have your computer running efficiently again! arjay8tch (Richard Holt)

for this kind of error what it needs is a browser upgrade... or download either google chrome, mozilla Firefox or latest version of IE browser...
Google Chrome browser: http://www.google.com/chrome?&brand=CHMB&utm_campaign=en&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-sk&utm_medium=ha
Mozilla firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/
IE latest version: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie/home?ocid=ie9_bow_Google&WT.srch=1&mtag=SearGoogle
or if you don't want any to download any browser you may want to try running your email on windows explorer:
click on "MY Computer" delete what you have on the address bar and proceed typing the URL of your email...
windows browser is the default browser of any microsoft Operating system >> free from any update nor add-ons...
you may want to try using one of the suggested methods..
thanks hope this helps

If you are running Windows Vista and use Internet Explorer go here: http://www.beautyoftheweb.com

One of the Chrome browser versions recently had the problem of displaying videos (even with the stable release version), therefore to use Chrome - wait for updates or install Beta or Dev versions from here: http://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel or use other browsers: Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.

I bought a new computer and i would like to installed my logitech webcam but i lost my cd

We need the Logitech model or look the right software (driver) in THIS LINK for the right Operative System. Also could search for AUTO-DETECT method:

Auto-detect is a small addition to your web browser that scans your operating system for any USB corded, wireless, or Bluetooth - attached Logitech hardware. You must be running Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP and the Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome web browser to use it.
This component collects no personal data, searches only attached Logitech hardware, and can be deleted once you're done searching your hardware.

Hipe helps and keep us updated.

When i try to install googlechrome i get error code=0x80040909

First, ensure the Windows installation is not in Windows Audit Mode.

Windows Audit Mode is used by PC manufacturers to setup a new installation template for your computer. When I re-installed my laptop's Windows image, it was in Windows Audit Mode. To put Windows in a Normal mode, please try the following:

1. Go to the Start menu, and where it says Search Programs and Files, enter the following in that box: regedit
2. You will see the REGEDIT program icon, click it
3. Windows will ask if you're sure, click OK.

Now you have the Registry Editor open. Double-click the following to find the value we need to change (called STATE):
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- SOFTWARE
- Microsoft
- Windows
- CurrentVersion
- Setup
- STATE

Right-click on STATE
Select Modify.
Delete the value (so it's blank)
Click OK and close the Registry Editor.

At this point, I tried the Chrome Stand-alone installer, and it still did not work.

So, I installed another browser (Firefox), and made that browser the default for my Windows 7 installation. Then, using Firefox, I tried the regular Chrome installer at www.google.com/chrome, and it worked perfectly.

Java works best with Mozilla firefox and google chrome. I suggest you head over to either of their respective websites and download browser. Once downloaded, install and use that browser to play these games.
