Hi-I have a DLC-7, it looks a lot like yours. On my machine the stem is removed by pulling straight up. It is held only by the friction of a knurled section of the shaft, no threads or other fasteners. You could grip it lightly sideways with a pliers or vise-grips and then use hammer head to tap upwards on the side of the pliers. Squeeze the shaft firmly enough to grip it adequately, but not so hard as to crush it.

Go to the cuisinart website and you can buy replacement parts. You will have to buy the entire shaft not just the top but it is still good!

You can get the Motor Shaft Covers for most if not all Cuisinart models from their customer service. They are not shown on the web under parts, but if you call them, they can help you get the right part. Just have your model # ready. For many, the part is $3 plus shipping and handling.

I want to open the base of the processor, but can't find screws

Remove the 4 rectangular rubber pads on the bottom.

Later you will need some Rubber Adhesive Glue to place them back.

This will give you access to the 4 Phillips screws.

I presently own a Cuisinart Food Processor Model# DLC-7.

I hope this helps you.

How to attach Cuisinart blades DLC 8 to DLC7 stem

The DLC-8 blades and the DLC-7 blades are not compatible. To attach the stem, first attach the stem to one of the compatible blades - the stem should day "DLC-7" for the DLC-7 blades - by inserting the first two tabs of the stem into the first two ridges of the blade connector - the left-most tab should be sticking out past the end of the blade connector - then slide the stem into place so that all tabs fit securely into the blade connector. Next, place the end with the blade up and insert the stem into the middle of the workbowl. There is a video for all Cuisinart food processors on the Cuisinart website.

I have ordered a replacement stem for my DLC-7, the stationary stem that covers the motor shaft. I'm not sure how to remove the one currently on the unit.

Remove the pusher sleeve and lid from the work bowl first, then slide the work bowl out of the locked position. At this point, the stem should be exposed.

I can't get the blades on the processor. there is a holder that somehow snaps into the blades before they are put on the processor

The regular chopping blade requires a stem adapter. The other blades require the detachable stem. I would double-check the user manaul to get a visual on it. Cuisinart food processors are great, but they are also the hardest to assemble.

Install Cuisinart stem cover

I was able to replace my pieces thru Small appliance.com I ordered new parts and the directions on how to remove the old stem and put the new one on.

Put a little vaseline in the rim of the new stem. Use a wooden block and a hammer or rubber mallet and lightly tap the new one into place.

Cuisinart called two weeks after the fact to say I have to send them the machine.....
