Rinse and spin stops unbalance problem

My machine (Fisher & Paykel 8 Kg Top Load Aquasmart)has been working fine (eg 2yr+) but now suddenly in the rinse/spin cycle the machine shakes very hard (ie the machine actually moves); then stops; moving the cloths to the middle and press continure works for a minute or two then shake and stops; sometimes after few go it works; I have tried different wash type/size or spin speed

three weeks wait list for the technician; any idea? Thanks

Hi Thanks for the quick reply; I have opened the machine and there are four elastic straps on each corner; one of them was out of place; It had a little tear; I put it back and doing a wash now and I'll let you know how it goes.

I have noticed the straps are very loose; is that normal or they need to be tighter and be replaced?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.

The tub support rods are still in place; I just noticed one of them had a very small tear; I am going to the shop tomorrow and compare them to a new machine's and order a new sets.

I have just checked the new machine's rods in store and they are also not very tight; the new rods costs $150; and the local supplier has not them in stock. would it be possible to be another problem? should I check something else as well before ordering the part and see no change? yesterday I tried the machine with all rods in place and it was shaking so hard during the rinse that I have to stop the machine; it sounded that the tub is hitting the side of the machine etc.

    Thanks

Hi and Wlecome to FixYa. I am Kelly

This is usually a balance ring problem with the inner tub. The ring is filled with water. If it gets a pin hole in it then the spin becomes eliptical and the machine will walk slide, glide across the floor in the spin with or without clothes. There is little you can do if the balance ring has failed other than replace it. If it does the serious unbalance routine with no cloted in the tub during the spin the problem is most likely a damaged balance ring.

Thanks for using FixYa.

There are spin cycle stabilizers that keep the washer tub from going way out of balance, it is very likely that one or more of these has failed and this is why the machine shakes, you will need to remove the washer tub and inspect the parts to determine what parts has failed. Taking the machine apart to this level of tear-down for inspection is only for the person who has advanced mechanical skills, it requires a good set of tools and allot of patience

The tub support rods need to be replaced when a sign of wear and tear is obvious because there is an imminent danger of incurring further damage when it fails totally during the machine operation, specially during a high speed spin. The rods are sold as a set of four and it is part number 421127P.

Make sure first that the washer is installed on a sturdy floor and that it is level and all feet are on the floor. There's no other reason the washer goes unbalanced except the tub support rods if the washer is level and installed on a sturdy floor.
