Question about Whirlpool Dryers

2 Answers

I have a large capacity whirpool dryer and when cloths are put in they sometimes have small holes in them. My guess is that they are coming from being caught between the drum and the felt that maybe worn. The front loading washer seems fine and cannot find anything wrong with it. Husband of a mad house wife and I am on my way home from business trip.

Hi,

I feel your pain. I travel a lot and when something is not working right....

Anyway to the issue at hand. Any sharp edges can cause catching or tearing of clothes, front load washers are usually pretty safe from this, but check around the baffles in the basket to make sure they are okay and inside the front boot to make sure nothing is stuck there.

On to the dryer. Depending on the model you have a few spots to look at. The one you mentioned is the most likely suspect, a new felt seal can be put on the drum, it is pretty easy and takes about an hour or so. The second most common place to look is the sensor strips (if you have them) they are metal bars 2 in parallel about 4 inches to 6 inches long. They can come loose or the bracket they sit in can come loose and catch clothes. If you have them the would be on the back wall or the front wall, put your head inside and look back at yourself and down.

If you need help looking up parts or need an exploded diagram for disassemble let me know the complete model number from the tag inside the door and I can email or send links.

Safe Travels!

Why is my hotpoint tcm570 tumble dryer leaving a puddle on the floor

Since no dryer I am aware of uses any liquid, I suggest you may be putting wet clothes into the dryer.
This can happen if the washer does not spin the clothes nearly dry. Many dryers have small holes in the dryer drum to let excess water flow out, I would guess that may be the case with yours.
Are your clothes nearly dry when they come out of the washer?
If not, perhaps the washer has a loose belt or has a problem with the "dry" cycle.
God bless your efforts.

My duet whirpool electric dryer keeps stoping before my clothes are dry

Make sure you are not using a timed drying setting. Use one of the pre programmed functions on the dial. These settings are meant to use a sensor and stop when the clothes are dry. If the problem continues on one of these settings, there is likely a problem with the sensor or your heating element

My extra large capacity Whirlpool dryer does not dry in one cycle. Even if I only put a small load it takes at least 3 cycles to dry

There maybe an air flow issue. With the dryer on check the air flow from the exterior location of your home. There should be a good flow of warm/hot air coming out. If not the inside of the dryer may be full of lint.

Whirpool dryer model wed9400swo the dryer door pops open

This usually occurs when the load is too large, causing the cloths to push the door open. If this is not the case, you should replace the door latch mechanism, which is what keeps the door closed.

Whirpool dryer takes 3 cycles to dry clothes

Hi, The first thing to check is the venting to the outside. Make sure it is free of lint and that it is not pinched at all.
If this is a gas dryer, there could be a problem with the coils on top of the gas valve.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Holes in Clothes

You'll need a drill with a wire brush attachment and take that to the front of the heating element. The heating element gets a lot of crud built up on it and yes it'll put holes on clothes.

GE top load Washer ripping clothes

Solution!
GE has replaced the "boot" (the large rubber gasket at the opening of the washer) on my washer. This has fixed the problem!

Although the majority of people I spoke with at GE did not know about this, eventually I got a repair technician out here who spoke with one of the engineers. The engineer said that there was a problem with the boot causing clothing to rip. The new boot we have on our washer covers a ring of plastic just on the outside of the metal drum (the plastic rim remains stationary while the metal drum spins - this is the cause of the ripped clothing) - the old boot left this plastic ring exposed. Our washer was only 8 months old - so even if your washer is new, if your clothing is being ripped, insist that the boot be replaced for an updated version.

Good luck!
