Question about Mitsubishi WD-52725 52". Rear Projection HDTV
Can I pull this repair off myself? Repair man stated that they need to replace the Chassis Assembly part # 955B298001 yet after reading many discussion board comments most of the fixes were simple capacitor replacement (and upgrade to a 16V version to handle any future power surge)?
Is the repair guy giving me a false diagnosis?
It just takes time. An issue like this is one that is known by the manufacturer however it takes time for the repair man to get into your tv and they are paid hourly which is where they make the big bucks. You can do it yourself just fine however you can also put your tv in the grave forever. As long as your ok with buying a new LCD if this does end up dead you should be fine. Always make sure your willing to except the risk, don't forget the insides of projection televisions can store electricity as well.
