This TV comes in two parts. The tuner and in my sterio component cabinet ant the monitor that hangs on the wall. The tuner/control unit is the unit that does not seem to turn on when you push the power switch on the remote or on the tuner unit itself.

The seperate control center unit will not turn on when the on switch is turned on or if you use the remote. However after about ten or 12 tries it goes on. This only happens in the morning when the TV hhas been off for the night. During the day it seems to work most of the time. Maybe because it is warmed up some

The blinking light signifies to a repair technician with capacitors or circuits are having an issue they can diagnose the problem via the amount of blinks in between pauses however it will require a technician and some specific tools and schematics to fix and it may be cheaper if its no longer under warranty to purchase a new one

Hope this helped

Is this a newly occurring issue or did you just notice this happening? Your TV has a digital module, either incorporated into the Main PCB or on a separate PCB. In either case, the module must boot operating software in order to function. After the TV is initially turned ON, the module will remain ON after the TV is shut off for a period of time. An unwritten standard seems to be about 2 minutes. So, if you turn the TV ON, see the issue you describe, turn the TV off, then turn the TV right back ON... and then the problem occurs, this may not be the cause. However, if it does not occur, turn the TV OFF, wait about 3 minutes then turn the TV back ON. If the issue occurs, it is related to the digital module. This does not mean it is a mis-operation.

I'm not familiar with this particular TV, but that doesn't leave me without a few ideas. First, the TV should power up without the media box attached. If you could, disconnect the media box (may be easier to do this on the back of the box than the TV. Then power the TV on. Does it seem to come on... perhaps it a special mode. Next, power the Media box on... does it come on or do you have the same difficult on/off condition. I'm simply just attempting to ruling out influences from one or the other with this process. If the box is still acting up, the first thing I would look at would be the power supply inside the media box. Mostly because it sounds like a low voltage related symptom. The most common cause of this is dry capacitors. Often they are bulging on top, but not always. Let me know what you find.

Ok,
There is most likely a problem that will eventually get worse. When the problem does occur next time look for how many times the light blinks this number of blinks is associated with a trouble code that can better isolate the problem. How long have you owned the tv and how long have you had this problem?
Thank you,
Lee

Hi can you confirm the model of your tv. From the specs this tv should have a built in hdtv tuner. Do you have the model of the separate box? I may be misreading what you have posted. Once I have more information I can assist you further. When/if you find my information helpful please reconsider and accept/rate my solution accordingly.
    thank you,
    Lee

A replacement AVC would run you like 1200$. You can get a 52" lcd for around that price, brand new with a warranty with a lot better picture quality. So you can either inquire with hitachi on repairing the AVC or sell your tv on ebay/craigslist for someone who can use it to recoup some of the cost for a new tv.
    Thank you,
    Lee

This is definitely a power supply board related problem. Do you have a multimeter? I will see if I have a service manual for this one and we will get started.

Tod,
The little plastic button you are referring to is the IR receiver for the Remote. When the TV turns itself off, are there any flashing lights on the front or rear of the unit. Look through the vents in the rear for any flashing lights or try tuning the tv on in a dark room and see if any lights flash and reflect off of walls. If there are flashing lights tell me how many flashes and what color and I will try to look them up in the manual.

TV ANT Jack Broke off and lost cable viewing

Yes it can be replace only if it just a connector adapter connected independently unto tv tuner. But if it is with the tv tuner as a whole. You will replace the entire tv tuner. Just bring the part as reference to your favorite electronic store selling tv parts.
