Question about Kenmore 24 in. 17482 / 17484 / 17489 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Not releasing dishwashing detergent

Dishwashing detergent stays inside the little box, even though the detergent box lid can be opened during the washing cycle.

Thank you

My LG dishwashing soap little door will not open and dispense soap during the cylcle. I have tried all different types of soaps but it continues to stay closed.

Remove the Soap Dispenser from the door, and replace the solenoid at the back of it, should find one at your nearest appliance spares outlet. First check if the 2 cables are connected though, they might have become loose after frequent opening and closing of the door. Or even better, replace the "cheap" part with P/N: 1267691 @ Repairclinic.com

Hope this helps :-)

Kind Regards

Dishwashing detergent isn't dissolving

Either:
  1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
  3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,

My whirlpool dishwasher soap dispenser is apparently not opening during cleaning. I find dirty dishes and clumps of soap in the hopper. Whirlpool quiet partner II

I bet your clumps of soap began with the beginning of the use of a different DW detergent powder.

Try this (trust me) Go buy a box of brand name Dishwasher powder (e.g. Electrosol or Cascade) Use it for two loads of dishes and report your results back here. OK?

Soap dispenser will not open in cycle

Hi Dookie1984

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is about: The small door that houses the dishwashing detergent (grain or gel) will not open during the dishwashing cycle. The detergent gets caked in that housing. This has happened about 10 times now in a row.

If it is still under warrenty it's time to make the call. If not then it may be time to consider whether it's more cost effective to repair or replace. Unfortunatly you won't be able to fix this and sometimes even the repairman can't. You can always utilize our Repair Directory if you decide to go in that direction.
