If smoke came out ,it is a bigger problem than just a solder joint, there is obviously a component that has burnt, It may be repairable by a technician, who may charge more than a screen is worth. If cost is a problem , secondhand ones can be 5-10 dollars

My moniter has completely stoped working. It at first was fading out for after a few minutes. I could turn it off and back on again to make it work but now it just is black

Good day sir/maam, hi, it seems that your monitor's power supply is slowly loosing power, this may be cause by parts inside to fail slowly, this may be resistors and capacitors, or a slow blow fuse, and a faulty switching regulator IC, then stops. Servicing LCDs are quite difficult, you need to bring it to your dealer for proper advice on your LCD.

With the white smoke in the morning but not later after you drive a bit sounds like the valves aren't operating properly. The cutting could be related to the valve issue.

Who ever told you to remove the CMOS battery was wrong, I feel sorry for this instance, do you know of the specifications of the board (processor, bus speed, memory speed/type ((DDR DDR2 etc...))?

Are there any capacitors popped, cylindicular looking objects usually black or diff. color on sides and silver on top, if so, white gunk will be on the outside.

Moniter has excess yallow colour

If you can't fix it by the menu, you can try unplugging it from the wall and computer, and wait for a few minutes. If that doesn't work; the monitor is busted and will need to be replaced.

Don't worry, you can pick up a CRT monitor these days, bigger screen size than yours, for real cheap. :)

I NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!!! PROVIEW 19" MONITER.

Does the led on front of the monitor stay blue or does it become amber ?
If it becomes amber, then you are not getting a signal.
No harm in trying this : You can try to see if it is a contact problem.
With the monitor unplugged.
Use a small paper clip to run in and out of the blue vga plug holes a few times each to make sure they are not plugged or gummed up.
If that doesn't help and you know that your video cord is good, then I am afraid to say that more than likely there is a problem with yor video card.

If it stays blue then the signal is there but the screen isn't fully lighting up, leading to a failing power-inverter board or a bad bulb.
