I did a google search and it took 5 secs to find a replacement screen. look under your unit for serial numbers/model numbers etc this will enable you to fine tuine your search and get a compatible replacement. The new one should then work fine. Alternatively you can always plug in a external monitor.

If you are referring to an external LCD monitor, any LCD monitor will work as long as the connectors are the same. VGA to VGA or DVI to DVI, otherwise you have to get an adapter.

To know what kind you have, if your display ports is 3 rows of 5, that is a VGA port. If it is 3 rows of 8 holes, that's a DVI.

Now to find the model number without turning it on, on the bottom of the laptop you can find a service tag. PRODUCT will tell you what the model number is. Also, you can find this info on the battery.

Hope this helps! Please don't forget to rate the answer. Thank you!

Hi, i just want to know,my hp 550 display is always show me blank(from yesterday),what can i do now?or how can i solv it?pls

Is the display blank when you power on.?
First turn off notebook.Remove battery and power cable. Then hold power button down for 15 seconds.Reconnect battery and power cable.

Try to hit F10 key immediately when you power-on the notebook.
>If you are able to see bios(blue, grey,or white screen) information, then the issue is with windows or with drivers.
>If you are not able to see any screen. Then probably issue with graphics chip on motherboard.Contact Hp for repair options or authorize Hp store.

Thankyou.

Why would my HP laptop screen go black?

A few reasons
1) backlight burnt out (or broken)
2) loose or broken cable AND backlight burnt out (or broken)
3) Failed GPU (probably integrated into the motherboard on that model)
4) failed motherboard (same issue above)

Check by plugging in an external monitor- if you get a signal, your LCD need a new backlight (or inverter, an easy fix under $15 USD)).

Cheapest solution is to simply replace the backlight, but you'll have to diassemble the entire laptop lid/cover AND the LCD to get to the backlight at the bottom. (this could be under $20 USD to do). Often similar sized LCD's with different part numbers will work fine in different laptops (meaning, a 14" LCD mady by samsung or LG will be compatible with almost any same 14" LCD made by either, especially if it comes WITH the inverter!)...

I have a HP Pavillion TX 1000. Did everyone heard

It is highly improbable that heat from the CPU can crack a LCD screen. Even if the fan was faulty the CPU would have shutdown (thermal overload) before it would affect the LCD screen. If you apply pressure to the face of the LCD screen or twist the screen or impact the screen with a hard object, any of these will cause the LCD screen to crack.

HP tx1000 touchscreen won't work

These TX1000's have their fair share of issues, and this one is the most costly (potentially) to resolve.

There are two, and only two, possibilities for why the digitizer in the LCD isnt working.

1) On many occasions, I'd estimate about 40% of the time, there's a little cable inside the LCD housing and behind the LCD itself that connects to a daughter-board, which then is cabled to the mainboard. This little cable sometimes comes loose, and a simple reconnect will resolve the stylus pen issues.

2) The digitizer in the LCD has failed, no separate LCD+digitizer purchase, oh no no no....Gotta get the whole damn assembly. Part# 441106-001 at roughly $550 exchange from HP.
