Is either you have a modem or a phone that has the GPRS facility to browse the internet then you connect it with your USB cable that comes with the phone then the PC SUITE then follow connection and browse the internet or for the modem is from the Internet service Provider they will give you the tariff plan and you subscribe with them and they give you the software that will enable you to connect it yourself and browse the internet .so easy and fun...

You may need to clone your MAC address, a unique address is for each device connected to a network. Some internet service provider (ISP) modems quit working if the MAC address of the device connected to its Ethernet or LAN jack (i.e., your computer) changes from the one used when it was first set up. So when you hook up a new router to share the connection, you run into the problem you have.

Cloning the MAC address in the router sets it to the same address as the device connected to its number 1 wired port. Since you didn't give the brand and model of your router I can't give you specific steps or links to follow for the process. But it's typically very simple. From the computer originally used to set up your modem, access the router's setup pages. On the appropriate page, pick "clone MAC address" from a menu or click on a button. You can search for "<insert your brand of router here> cloning MAC address" and find many sites with how-to information. A good starting point is always the router manufacturer's site, where there is probably already an answer in their support FAQ section.

Once the router MAC address has been cloned, you should have your Internet access back and will be able to use the wireless access.

I practically lost my vista product key ,and the window vista request to activate. Please help me to resolve the problem.

If you have successfully installed Vista using the product installation code, then you need to activate Windows Vista (you have a 30 period to activate)
You can activate Vista via the Internet or by phone.
If you have Internet connection then i suggest you activate via the Internet. Click on the activation request and follow the prompts.
If you wish to activate by phone click on the activation request and follow the prompts.

Cable modem internet works when directly plugged into desktop, but when run through the router, no connectivity

Most cable Internet Service Providers (ISP) use a Media Access Control (MAC) Authentication to establish Internet connections for end-users. A MAC address is a unique 48-bit (6-byte) integer that is attached to an Ethernet NIC for each computer. To set-up your Linksys router to a Cable ISP, you have to do MAC Cloning. MAC Cloning is a procedure which enables a router to copy the MAC address of the PC that's registered with the ISP.
To setup a Linksys router with Cable connection you need to perform five steps:
  1. Verifying Internet Connection
  2. Connecting the Devices Together
  3. Checking the Router's LEDs
  4. Configuring a Linksys Router for a Cable Connection
  5. Power Cycling
NOTE: Before proceeding, use the computer that can go online when connected to the modem and follow the steps below.
Verifying Internet Connection
Connect the Broadband modem to the computer using an Ethernet cable without the router installed and make sure that the Internet connection is active. If it is not, contact your ISP. If it can go online, the PC connected to the modem is the one that's registered with the ISP.

kb4682-001_en.png NOTE: The image may vary depending on the computer and modem you're using.
Once an active Internet connection is established through the modem, connect the modem and the computer to the router by following the instructions below.
Connecting the Devices Together
After ensuring that you have an active Internet connection, connect the modem to the router's Internet port and the computer to any of the four Ethernet ports. For instructions, click here.
After connecting the devices, check the LEDs by following the instructions below.
Checking the Router's LEDs
The Linksys router's front panel will indicate the status of the connection. After connecting the broadband modem to the WAN or Internet port, the computer to an available numbered port and powering on the router check the lights on the front panel of the router. For instructions, click here.
After checking the router's LEDs, configure the router for cable Internet. For instructions, follow the steps below.

kb4682-002_en.png For Telstra Cable internet users, please contact Telstra to confirm if your internet connection is using DHCP or HB (Heart Beat) signal. There should be no other machine running HB client upon doing this procedure.
Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here.

NOTE
: If you are using Mac to access the router's web-based setup page, click here. If you forgot your IP address, click here. If you forgot your router's password, click here.

Step 2:

When the router's web-based setup page appears, click the drop-down arrow under the Internet Connection Type field and select Automatic Configuration - DHCP.
(a) If you are NOT using Telstra HB, proceed with DHCP setup.

NOTE: If you are a Telstra Cable internet user and you're using WRT120N, WRT160N v1, WRT320N or WRT610N, please select Telstra Cable.
(b) If you are using Telstra Cable, proceed with the following setup. Obtain your user name and password from Telstra. Please disable any HB client that might have been previously running on the PC after the router is configured.

Step 6:

Click kb4682-012_en.png.

Step 7:
Click Status. Check the value of the Internet IP Address. If the Internet IP Address has numbers, this means the router has been properly configured. You should now be able to access the Internet. If you're not online, perform a power cycle to synchronize the router with the modem. For instructions, click here.

NOTE:
If the Internet IP Address is all zeroes (0.0.0.0) click kb4682-008_en.png first then click kb4682-009_en.png. If the Internet IP Address is still all zeroes (0.0.0.0) perform a power cycle. For instructions, click here.
If the IP Address starts with 192.168.1.xxx or if it has the same first three numbers (octets) as the router's IP address, change the router's LAN IP address to a different LAN segment. For instructions, click here.
Once the router is configured, perform a power cycle. For instructions, follow the steps below.
Power Cycling

Step 1:
Shutdown the computer.

Step 2:

Unplug the router's power cable.

Step 3:

Unplug the Broadband modem's power cable and wait for 30 seconds.

Step 4:

Plug in the Broadband modem's power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable.

Step 5:

Plug in the router's power cable once the modem's lights appear stable.

Step 6:

Power on the computer on and test the Internet connection.
NOTE: If you're not online after performing this procedure, you may need to upgrade the firmware of the router.

My computer is saying connected to router but no internet and my cable light on the router is not lit. (yes the cable is active on my tv) Any suggestions on the problem and a solution

if its the first time you connected the router ...you have to make the wlan connection ..and clone the Mac address on the router to fit the old mac that u had on computer card..
this in case ia have a static ip address and you need to make the internet connection with the provider... after that select from your pc network setting to obtain an ip address automatically ...and you put the sub-net mask at 255 255 255 0 and the default gateway as the ip address of the router ...
do not forget the router is now your connection with the provider so there is where you set the provider 's settings ...
if you have a modem too just select at the wlan in the router .to obtain an auto ip ...and in the computer too ..you may also clone the mac adress cause the provider may have it ..and block the acces cause didnt recognize the new one (router's Mac)
