I have exactly the same problem, the paper light is always blinking. Also, when the printer is powered, it is automatically "on" and I cannot turn it off (except by unplugging it).

When the printer is powered, it is automatically "on" and I cannot turn
it off (except by unplugging it). Also, if I open the lid, nothing
happens (even if normally the ink cartridge would come in the middle,
without any kind of software installation or computer connection)

Disconnect printer from your computer. Delete Lexmark software from your computer and start afresh. Once you have loaded software and any drivers try to print a document.
Check in settings/printer that file that you want to print is being transferred from your PC to the printer. You will see the doc in the printer dialogue box. Hope things are sorted.

Lexmark printer x3470 fault won't print. message reads cover open

  1. Disconnect the power cable and the USB cable.

  1. Remove the cartridges from the printer.

  1. Plug the power cable back into the wall socket

  2. Reconnect the USB cable.
This can happen if the lever on the cover open sensor is knocked off the switch assembly.
If this is the case you would have to contact Lexmark.
