Question about Washing Machines

Wife just told me this

Whirlpool Stylemaster Top Loader
Wife just told me this is a progressively worse problem....she had to run more than one spin cycle to dry clothes......started the washer the other night, and it got stuck in the spin cycle......wouldn't move or drain.....I've played with the knob, and it did try to move but to no avail.....I also noticed the drain hose jerking in the process.....I checked the coupler I replaced about a year ago, and it looked great!

Also a note, it will not agitate in the wash cycle even........at one point in the spin cycle it made about an 1/8th of a revolution and then just started humming again.......

I'm thinking drain hose, drain pump, or dog ears on top of agitator.....can anyone narrow it down? thanks........

    wilbur,

I just didn't believe you sir. It's a Whirlpool LBR6233AW0 Top Loader. I couldn't even find dog ears or an agitator drive cam in this model after my wife brought the dog ears home. I finally decided to pull the drain pump off and found one of my 9 month old sons sock stuck in there.......FixYa!

I guess I hadn't really thought about it too much sir. I figured it was so small it just kinda got sucked through.....?????

How do I take the whirlpool washer cabnet off?

Earlier whirlpool tubs had 4 screws under rubber plugs that unfortunately rusted if you manage to get them out then the complete top lifts of the base section
later models just prise apart as they have eliminated the screws
there are manuals on line to download

Whirlpool stylemaster 4217141 REV A Agitator/spin cycle broken upper agitator spins by hand but tub won't spin

open the lid and get a model #, sound like all you need is agit dogs # 80040. then remove top of the agitator, could be a softener dispenser. under that you will find a plastic cap, pull up with needle nose pliers. under that you will find a 7/16 or 1/2 bolt, remove the bolt and the agitator can be lifted off. the agitator can now be split into to pieces, turn the top half over and the assy with the agit dgs will fall out. simply replace and reassemble and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLT. just snug it up. should be fine.

My kenmore 800 washer is off cycle for example when i start a load of clothes it starts agitating before filling, and doesn't always spin all the water out of the clothes

I have the exact same problem with my Kenmore 800 top loader, Model # 110.29822800. It is only 1.5 years old. Any suggestions?

After the first cycle the washer hangs up on the first spin cycle. During this time it makes a hum but does not progress forward. You can move the control dial to the last spin cycle and it will...

Please check iff the motor speed is good enough. If slow check on the capacitor and replace the capacitor.
If this wont improve then the controller unit is a possible suspect.
Make a diagonistic check on these two sections and the possible answer migh help.

Whirlpool not spinning fast enough. Not

We had same problem which got worse. I had to take the tub out as it wasn't engaging on spin. I feel a washer
was left out at factory as it wouldn't tighten down.
After a few attempts I finally found a washer that was
right ( elec dept ). You basically take the whole thing apart.
It works now but we bought extra washers

Washer motor runs, but the drum does not spin on the spin cycle

It is most probably the motor coupling if you have a Whirlpool top loader.

i would try removing the lower acess panel(2 5/16 screws . from there you should be able to see where the "ticjing" noise is coming from, likely source is cracks in belt assy
