There is a Master Reset procedure, but you would lose all of your favorites if you did it. To do a Master Reset, turn the unit off. Press and hold the on button and the bottom right of the screen at the same time. Release the on button when the unit comes on and asks if you want to do a Master Reset. Again, this will ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES.

I have a garmin street pilot c530 after i power it up and agree to the disclaimer the screen reads as follows no deailed maps found that support routing street pilot cannot be used without them the unit...

I just purchased my c530 a couple of days ago and had been loving it. I had added some custom POI's to my sd card using POI loader version 2.4.0 and that had worked fine. Then the other day I tried to load some new custom POI's, but POI loader got hung up and froze. After disconnecting the c530, I restarted it. After it started, a screen came up that said "No detailed maps found that support routing. The Streetpilot cannot be used without them." I contacted garmin, here is the site for contact info since I am unsure where you are. http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/support/supportcontactand the tech support at Garmin. They said that somehow the files on my c530 must have gotten corrupted. The person I talked to at Garmin was very friendly and walked me through several things trying to get my unit to work. He was very apologetic and said that this should not have happened. He told me I would have to return it and get a replacement. Sorry Hope this helped.

Free garmin c530 map updates

I don't think there is one.  I had to buy an $80.00 CD-ROM for mine.

I did find an article about this here: http://www.gpsmagazine.com/2007/08/garmin_map_update_not_so_smoot.php

Garmin c530 powers up breifly then shuts down

The problem is with the battery, DC will not fully charge the battery to its required capicty to work. You need an AC charger and to charge it fully ( 10 hrs Max) and then try it. It needs a lot of power to drive the screen and connect to satellites.
Invest in an AC charger and all should work properly

Touch screen doesnt work all the time

Hi,
Pop the face off to reset it, could sort it for you.
Press the power button for over 1 minute to calibrate the screen
and use the Garmin Web-updater to update the software.

Should be good then
Regards
Richard.

Garmin c530 wont power up. Did it once, took it apart and worked for a few days, died again.

Did you reset it? lift off the cover plate by slipping your fingernail into the little slot just beneath the Garmin logo. There is a reset button hidden under the cover...

Garmin c530

Carefully remove face plate bezel. There is a reset button on the right side of the face. Press the button and then restart normally. It's in the owners manual if haven't lost yours like I did. The manual is on Garmins website.

Garmin c530

According to technical support, the "glitch" has been fixed with the latest web updater on the Garmin site. In the meantime, you will need to leave the unit unplugged for upto 48 hours to allow the battery die and the unit to get out of its "hang up". Once the battery is completely dead, plug the GPS into a computer (USB) and it should come back to life. Then do the update.

Hope this helps.
