Launch a FIR with the police, attaching a copy of the IMEI number with it. Then give a copy of this FIR to your service provider who can track the phone based on its unique ID number and meanwhile block the handset so that it cannot be used by anyone else. IMEI number helps to tracks the handset, even when the SIM is changed or the SIM card is not activated. Once the phone is traced, the police should be able to retrieve it.

My mobile phone together with the sim card number got stolen.what will i do so the thiefty can not open my mobile phone

Please do the following:
1. Call up your SERVICE PROVIDER and cancel the SIM. Ask them to issue a new SIM as the phone was stolen. Also if you can give your IMEI code of the phone it can be traced.
2. Leave a message on the phone before it is cut off asking that it must be returned to your address-
3. Please give a complaint to the CYBER CELL of the polic dept. with the document proof of your phone stating it was stolen, in case you can claim for insurance or trace the phone.
Hope you get lucky.

My nokia e5 cellphone lost , what can i do to trace my mobile by using imei number ?

There is GOOD news and BAD News....1st the bad news, your phone is lost and you will never see it again. The good news is that you can contact your service provider and have the handset disable by giving them the IMEI number.

I have yet to hear about a cell phone company that would trace a lost/stolen cell phone. Hopefully there was an insurance policy which covered lost/stolen phones; if not a replacement is out of pocket.

My mobile handset has been lost How I can trace my Handset? IMEI NUMBER was noted with me

Hello thanks for using fixya

If your cell phone is lost or stolen,it is not possible to trace it unless you ring your cell phone number and someone answers it and returns it to you.But you can inform your network provider with yours IMEI number who can then put the serial number on a shared database. This list stops this particular phone from registering on any network and will be useless for anyone even if the mobile phone's SIM card is changed

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u

  • Service provider use a shared hosting service for blocking IMEI numbers
  • Witch mean if your mobile have different sim then also Your mobile not work

Track the location of a lost cell using the IMEI number

1. Call up the "Customer Care" helpline of your airtime provider and ask them to deactivate the SIM.
2. Call up the police. Submit them the IMEI number of your phone (which you should have noted before the theft).

From what I understand, the IMEI number is broadcast to the network every time a call is made, along with the user's account information on the sim card.So let's say the person who stole the phone just takes out your sim and puts in their's, and keeps using the phone. Your Carrier should be able to track it by their account info.
A unique code encrypted in each mobile, known as the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, is now being used to trace a mobile anywhere in the country. Even if the SIM card (network) is changed, it can be traced.
Whenever a phone logs onto a particular network to make or receive calls, its IMEI number is emitted and this gets registered. In case of stolen phones, the service provider can pass on the information to the police. and they can trace the user through the SIM card. It is possible to even track down gangs running cellphone-stealing rackets.

Register with a website like Track IMEI, Mobile Phones Tracker or Theft Record. You simply have to visit the website and submit your handset's IMEI number. If the company's dealers ever come across a IMEI-number.html#" target=_blank className="iAs" itxtdid="26528975">cell phone with your IMEI number, they will trace it and contact you.

Hint:
check out Theft Aware - this is a tool that can help you recover your lost or stolen mobile phone. It is completely invisible on your phone and the owner can remotely control his mobile phone and perform a variety of actions that remain invisible to thieves.

Mobile stolen

Unlike the Electronic Serial Number or MEID of CDMA and other wireless networks, the IMEI is only used to identify the device, and has no permanent or semi-permanent relation to the subscriber. Instead, the subscriber is identified by transmission of an IMSI number, which is stored on a SIM card which can (in theory) be transferred to any handset. However, many network and security features are enabled by knowing the current device being used by a subscriber.

If a mobile phone is stolen, the owner can call his or her network provider and instruct them to "ban" the phone using its IMEI number. This renders the phone useless, regardless of whether the phone's SIM is changed.

Lost mobile

As far as I know IMEI numbers are like registration numbers, they dont actually trace. I know with modems etc that have IMEI numbers they cant be traced. At telstra IMEI numbers were only like a registration number, my suggestion is to cancel the phone. only a suggestion though....
