I have defective convergance ic`s here is what I was told to do to fix,
"If you know how to solder, this should be an easy fix for you.
The IC markings are STK392-150 with locations IC1502, IC1506, mounted on a big heatsink(s)."
I know how to solder I have stuffed electronic boards and soldered them, if I knew exactly what to solder I could, do I need to replace the IC`s or find a break in a trace on the board? I need the solution expanded (greater detail) if possible, Thank you in advance. any help would be great

Re: convergence IC`s defective
Check this link for the parts you need. Open the back of the TV and you will see the parts there.
I would suggest to remove the defective ICs by cutting the leads from the old ones and remove the left over leads from the assembly very carefully. Once you have remove the leads, clean the holes from the PCB to install the new parts.

Sir the problem of your tv is the convergence to narrow the problem try to adjust first the convergence settings using your original remote go to setting menu then to the convergence setting, you can adjust the red and blue convergence, you should be able to adjust the red and blue left, right and up, down you should align the red and blue to green but if you cannot move them far enough or if you cant move them in any direction the convergence IC is already defective replacing this IC will fix the problem, you will find this convergence IC attach to a large aluminum plate this aluminum plate is the heat sink. It is easy to locate if you remove the back cover of your unit be sure to unplug your TV
this is the convergence IC if you remove this try to observe also if there is a cold solder or dry joint because sometimes this cause your convergence to malfunction observe the solder part of the convergence.
This is a cold solder or dry joints you can fix this by resoldering using a soldering iron, soldering lead, and desoldering pump but be sure not to connect separated pins it may cause much damage to unit if accidentally solder together. To replace the IC convergence try to check this link http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/product.php?productid=19971&cat=1538&page=1 hope this helps good day and best regards.
Yes it can be fix, first try to adjust the convergence setting in the setting menu then go to convergence section, adjust the red and blue convergence. You should be able to move the red and the blue convergence up, down and left, right but if you cannot move this far enough the convergence IC is defective and should be replaced. This convergence IC is attached to a large aluminum plate, this is the heat sink and the convergence IC has a marking of STK-#### followed by a number, in order to replace this IC you should have a soldering iron, desoldering pump, soldering lead be careful when pulling out the IC you may accidentally tampered or damage the PCB and caused much damage to the unit. Note before opening the back cover of your tv be sure to unplug it first. But if you are not familiar with electronic parts you can contact a service technician to do it for you and save you from stress good day and best regards.
If your tv is not a DLP the problem is in the convergence, try to adjust it using your original remote control go to the setting menu then to the convergence section. Adjust the red and blue convergence. you should move the red and the blue in up, down and left, right if this color does not move far enough your convergence IC is already defective. Replacing this convergence IC will solve the problem. In locating this convergence IC you should remove the back cover of your unit but be sure to unplug it before doing this. This convergence IC is attached to a large aluminum plate, it is the heat sink, and it has a marking of stk- ### followed by numbers. You can try to pull it out using a soldering iron and soldering pump but be careful you may damage the board and cause much problem to your unit. Or you can contact a technician to do it for you and save you from stress good day and best regards.
Usually what happens is that the convergence IC goes bad or the fuse going to the convergence ic goes bad. Pico fuses they are called sometimes open up. You may want to open it up and pull the board out and check the solder connections on the convergence IC. Sometimes these get fractured or cold soldered and aren't making connection to the PC board.
Let me know if you feel comfortable with pulling TV chassis out or pulling the board that has the convergence IC on it out. Then you can resolder convergence IC OR replace it.First thing i would do is check to make sure there is between 22vdc and 25vdc on the fuse or the convergence IC. Let me know if this helps out any.... Sincerely HDTV GURU JAY
Ur tv have convergence problems,it dead.U must have soldering tools, solders and know how to solders to fix convergence problems.U must replaced 2 STk convergence ICS,and some or all it resistors.Tries websites Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence kit to repair it ur self. The shop will cost U $300-$350 for parts and labors.
It sounds like the convergence IC's have failed. Replace the defective Convergence Output IC Part Number 23905094 (STK392-110) using the revised “T” version IC Part Number 23135090 (STK392-110T). When Convergence Output failure is detected, it’s recommended that both IC’s be changed to the “T” type IC version. Inspect the Convergence Output IC’s for the “T” type version.

Good Luck, Big Irish.
There is a problem with the convergence circuit. It can be as simple as poor solder connections at the pins of the convergence IC or a defective IC. If you can solder, you can fix this yourself. Please confirm the model number of hte set and I'll provide the part numbers etc. required to resolve this.
kt33, of course you can do it yourself cheaper, IF you know how to solder & un-solder parts and IF you have a voltmeter and know how to use it. Convergence IC`s and probably a few support resistors will have to be removed and replaced. IF you can do the above I can look-up the IC`s for you but your on your own with the resistors until you tell me which ones you need if any, let me know, BMW Rider
You have a convergence problem, but you are adjusting the wrong system. You need to adjust the convergence rings first ok You need a dot and crosshatch generator to properly set convergence for this set. Connect the generator set the TV to channel 3 and turn on the generator set it to dots adjusting the convergence try to get the center dot RGB all together and then adjust for the outer edges using the convergence board. the use the crosshatch to adjust convergence along the lines of the crosshatch pattern. Remember use the rings first and the the convergence board adjustments.
