My GPS unit appears to be functioning as normal (voice commands work, and the unit is still navigating), but the display isn't working at all. The brightness is set to the highest level, but the display is completely dark except for several faint outlines. Because I am able to recall the approximate positions on the touch screen, I can select items and hear the menus and other features working, I simply can't see the display.
Any thoughts on repairing this would be greatly appreciated.

Not all GPS units have voice capabilities. That is a function that is normally only included in the more expensive units. Most GPS unit have the capabilities to voice directions and street names, but will not work with your voice.
Try resetting the unit and also charge it using only the wall charger overnight.
Here's how to reset -it just puts everything back to factory settings -1- Turn unit on WHILE HOLDING your thumb in the lower right corner as shown in picture.2-Select YESPLEASE Take the time to vote me up this is my only reward for trying to help. Thanks PIC 2
You need to hook up the unit to your PC using the USB cable and run webupdater to reinstall the voices. The fact that your unit isn't showing any voice options is the cause. Perhaps they are there but corrupted. Reinstalling them will overwrite the damaged files.
Hye! here's how you can take care of this issue: Dowload google maps from the web (for windows mobile) & install it on your diamond. In order to use GPS on this phone, your internet/gprs connection must be functional; without netwrok connectivity you cant use GPS on this device as it does not have the map interface on its chip (& cant be loaded later too). It just has a light GPS transceiver which in presence of a mapping software (such as google maps) can show your position on the globe & in some countires can also navigate you. After installing google maps, make sure your internet connectivity is on and then work with google maps 'USE GPS' & 'My location' or 'Navigate' functions ... enjoy!
Regarding the screen jitter, believe it or not, the infrared port is causing the issue. If you disable it through settings inside the unit your issues will go away. The sun basically destroys the infrared sensor and the unit "thinks" a button on the remote is getting clicked continuously.
