Question about Apple safari

1 Answer

Whenever I log on and open safari the little colored circle thingy appears and Safari is unresponsive. As soon as I force quit and open it again it works. After 2o some reports to Apple I've quit reporting and the problem persists. I have a 2009 Macbook with OS X 10.5.8

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

How to unfreeze safaris when force quit won't work

Hi!

Force quit should force Safari to close. However, if your system is unresponsive-- a restart may be required.

Hope this helps!

Help, I have MacBook Air and it won't install new require Flash version....it keeps telling me I need to quite safari but I don't have safari open...hours and hours of wasted time.

Camille,

Although you might not have Safari open where you can see it it might still be running as a process. Open Activity Monitor and select Memory, scroll down the list of items using memory and see if you see anything related to Safari still active in memory. If you find something, double click on it and another window comes up with information about the process. Select at the bottom quit. There are two options to quit first is quit second is force quit. If quit alone does not remove the process then you will have to force quit the process. A word of warning although this is an easy way to quit processes that are not responding, or not closing be careful some processes are system processes and if shut down forcibly can cause the system to lock or crash. I have not heard of any damaging effects from this besides data lose in apps that were open but always be careful.

Change homepage on mac

Your homepage is the page that normally appears when you first open Safari.

  1. Open Safari if it is not already open.
  2. Choose Safari > Preferences, and then click General.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To use the page in the current Safari window or tab, click "Set to Current Page."
    • To use another page, type its address in the Homepage field.
    • To use a blank page, delete the contents of the Homepage field so that the field is blank.
  4. If you also want the homepage to appear whenever you open a new Safari window, choose Homepage from the "New windows open with" pop-up menu.
Good Luck!

Safari page will not open

  1. Try Command-N.
  2. The window may be open but moved nearly out of view. Tap the F3 button, do you see a Safari Window?
  3. Safari may be frozen, from the Apple Menu go to Force Quit and see if Safari is listed, if so it may be red and say "Not Responding" Select it Force Quit, Confirm. Try reopening it now.
  4. Restart if all else fails.

Cannot quit safari before beginning this update

Thank you for contacting Fixya Support

In order to quit Safari before updating, if the web browser cannot be closed normally, you can simply perform a Force Quit by pressing the Apple Command Key + Option Key + the Esc Key and this will bring a window up displaying all currently open applications including Safari.

If you see that Safari is listed in that window, it should have a "Not responding" tag next to its name.
Simply click on the Safari name and press the Force Quit button and it will close out the Safari application.

If you require more information or assistance with this issue, please don't hesitate to reply to this post.

Safari Browser makes the 15" PB G4 unusable

I would go info safaRI, and empty cache and reset safari, then go to software update and see if there is an update. I would also check to see if your OSX is up to date. If you are not running 10.4, i would update to at least 10.4.9. If you are running 10.4, i would get a dvd copy of 10.4 and perform what is called an archive and install.
