Question about Dell Dimension 8200 PC Desktop
I replaced my old 10/100mbs netwok card with a new Intel PWLA8391GTBLK Gigabyte Network Card and now can't connect to my LAN. I am getting a Unable to Renew IP address withy a 169.254.....address
Most likely your internet provider is MAC based - which means that the internet connection is tied to the distinct identity of the LAN card. You will have to call your ISP and tell them about that, to make the appropriate modifications for your new LAN card.
How you can find your new MAC: Start > Run > type - cmd - > Enter and new command window will open > type - ipconfig /all - > the MAC will be displayed in Physical address, write it on a piece of paper, the ISP will ask you about it.
