There are 2 checks for the heating elements:
#1 Check the voltage to element ( Black to ground, and red to either terminal of the element.

#2 Check resistance across the element. First turn the power off to the Water Heater, remove wires from element, then measure resistance across element. A good element could read anywhere from 9 K Ohms to 13 K Ohms depending on the voltage of the element. A bad resistance reading would be an infinite reading, or 0 Ohms.

If your elements check good, you might replace the thermastat

Not heating

Hi Pam:
The water enters the washer via hot and cold hoses.
Either your hot water heater is not working, or the hot water solenoid control on the washer is not working.
There may be a dial with settings for wash temperature.
I'd be checking that control unit.

Why does water get hot then turn cold after using hot water

Most washers mix hot and cold water to get the best temp water for mixing with the soap.

There is no cold water at all in my house. The pressure seen right. What can I do? Someone said it could be the heating element. If it is how can I find out and how much does it cost to replace and ca

I think you mean no hot water? Check the Circuit Breaker for the Hot Water Heater, On? Not tripped? You will need a Multimeter to verify voltage to the thermostat and heating elements, If you feel comfortable working with electricity and basic hand tools it's a easy fix. Purchase the EXACT same Element/elements and thermostat, they usually come in the replacement kit. Shut down the AC circuit Breaker and water supply for the water heater, remove the cover, verify that NO AC is present, If you supply the Make and Model I will try to locate a presise procedure.

Its not getting hot on a hot wash

Washers don't really heat the water it should be connected to a cold water and a hotter water side if your washer is all the way across the house from the water heater it may take a while for the hot water to get to it but if it is getting water to it on the hot cycle the you have hot water hooked to it. Make sure you have both hoses connected to the right sides. Still no hot water you may have an element going out in your water heater.

Hi,does the whirlpool awm 9000 heat water or does it require a constant supply of hot water?

I am not aware of any washers that have built in heaters. Your problem seems to be with your hot water supply in the house. If you have a hot water heater gas or propane pilot may be out, or electric possibly tripped curciut breaker, or if furnace coil , possible furnace servicing is required. Did you just have new machine installed? Did installer forget to turn on the hot water? Basically before you get to upset go backwards from the machine to the problem. It will turn out to be an oversight due to the excitement with your new machine. Enjoy, and GOOD LUCK.

What is the F20 error code?

F-20 error code in Whirlpool Duet Sport washing machine is indication of inadequate water supply. Check both hot and cold water supply lines to make sure machine gets enough water intake. If you do not have a hot water supply to the machine you can only run it with the cold temperature setting. This machine does not have an internal water heater and relies on the hot water supply from the house water heater.

Luke warm water on sanitize cycle, why?

remove lower kick panel and check wire connections to heater. 2 wires go to heater terminals and a harness connector goes to temp sensor in middle of heat terminals. may be green ground connection on another term. use multimeter and check resistence on heater. during cycle heater will take time to heat.

If your dishwasher's cycle times are too long, check these:

Water pre-heating
Cycle not completing
Water pre-heating
Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is
cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher.
Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature
of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than
120 degrees Fahrenheit.
